First thanks to those that helped me testing, the last couple days really brought it together.

BosVendors are for sale in Blue, 235,50 (right by the stage/teleplopper).

Here is the "features" notecard copied from the infobooth in myshop:

Howdie,

BosVendor is a sales vendor box. The owner of the BosVendor (BV) can place a massive amount of goods in the BV, saving both space and prim counts!

BosVendor has a number of features:
--Displays a picture that you set up for each item.

--Next/Previous buttons allow customer to browse your goods.

--Preview is an optional feature that will rez a temporary object that the customer can view. So your customers can see your goods in world, instead of just seeing a picture.

--Gives infonotes, optionally, to the customer so you can tell them, in a lengthy and informative manner, whatever you'd like.

--Plays sounds, the speaker button will play a sound (optionally) for the customer. So if you sell sounds they can be previewed, or you might simply want to play a little song or a sound bite that's specific to the item you're selling

--Snippet spew. BosVendor will, optionally, whisper (say) a given line when a new item is viewed. So you can add a quick one-liner to help make your sales pitch, or simply to say "thanks for looking".

--Email sales receipts. You can optionally choose to have BosVendor email you about sales. Who bought what for how much. (as well if you choose the BosTax route it will inform you about BosTax too)

--Resize it! You can make the BV 10meters by 10meters, or shrink it to a tiny size (see the examples of a large BV and tiny BV in my shop). All the buttons and textures scale when you resize.

--Has no frame, I've left it frameless not only because you can resize it, but because you might have a better idea for framing it (I'm a sucky texturer :). Or you might go frameless!

--Double-sided. BosVendor works on both sides. So you can line a room with them and have people browsing from either side (the sides are interdependant though).

--Smart Debit. If the customer pays too much, you return the difference to them, yet still conclude the sale. Pays too little and you refund the full amount they tried to pay. If they pay the correct amount you naturally conclude the sale.

--Give Inventory. BosVendor uses llGiveInventory() to give the item to the customer, vs. rez'ing the item and having them buy that.

--Comma Seperated lists for each sales item. A little cumbersome perhaps the first few times you tinker with it, but actually a very easy system to quickly get your items into the BosVendor "Databank".

--Smart data handling. BosVendor checks for a variety of errors, such as bad names (name in databank doesn't exist in the BosVendor inventory), bad price set, BosVendor will catch prices that are alpha text (abcd..) or values < 0.

--Buttons fade if not available. For example; you're selling a widget, but have excluded the optional preview, notecard, and sound. The buttons for those options will fade so it's visually apparent to the customer that they're not available for the currently selected item.

--Mod-able, the BosVendor is modifiable (the script isn't) So you can re-arrange buttons, or even move them off the main display (but they must still be linked to the main display).

BosTax, oh my!

With the launch of BosVendor I have introduced BosTax.

BosTax is an optional payment plan for buying the BosVendor. Instead of laying out a large sum of cash for the BosVendor, you can opt to use the BosTax plan.

Want to know more? Visit my shop in blue (250,50) and click the info booth that's upstairs by the BosVendor displays.

Wow Bos, that sounds very cool! You seem to have thought of everything.

I haven't decided what I'm going to do post 1.2, but I might be interested in setting up some of my stock in a BV and I will definitely check them out.

Nice job!

Tonight's update...

Making a demo, so far just 2 examples in it but will add more in the coming days. So soon you can see it in action with various options running.

Came up with a tool to help the scriptly-challenged folks easily move their previews to a desired location/orientation. Look for the "Free Tools" area, and check back on occasion as no doubt I'll figure out more tools to offer.

Added a display showing how you can re-arrange the vendor. I haven't made a notecard about re-designing the layout, but for now keep this in mind:

--The main display must be the parent prim.
--The main display prim must remain square. You can resize it, but I suggest doing so only via dragging the white corner blocks (when editing).
--On resizing all buttons scale with the main board (assuming it's all linked together).
--The buttons must all exist and must have the scripts in them.
--The buttons must all be linked to the main board, again the main display must be the parent prim (yellow when highlighted).
--The buttons must all contain their original scripts (same holds for the main display).

Bos.. I checked out your vending machine this morning. Very cool. I like that there are several versions to choose from to suit the users needs.

Great feature set as well... good job!

Funny thing is.. I was talking to my secret scripter this last week about something very similar.

Anyway... good stuff bos!

Thanks Juro.

....
To answer a couple of the common questions I'm getting (there is a notecard info thinger in the shop btw with this info, but seems people miss it heh)

Q: Does it only sell objects?
A: Nope! BosVendor will sell *anything*. Textures, objects, sounds, clothes, notes, scripts.

Q: What's BosTax?
A: BosTax is a method of buying the BosVendor for very little upfront cash. But you pay me a percentage of your sales (6.5%).

To further explain let me toss up some examples.

The Full featured BosVendor is $500. You buy it outright and it's your's (except the scripts, which remain no mod).

The Full Featured BosTax BosVendor is $50. You buy it and anytime it sells something it will pay me 6.5% of the sale's price. Sell a $50 widget, pay me $3. Sell a $1 to $7 item, it pays me nothing. Sell a $1000 item, it pays me $65.

Now, say you're a big shop owner and want 5 BosVendors (one for shirts, one for pants, one for ..etc). That's $2500 to buy 5 vendors. A lot of money.
..OR..
$250 to buy 5 BosTax vendors. How much will you have to sell for me to make my $2500? Around $38,000 in sales. That's a lot of coin. BosTax is, in most cases, a benefit to you -- not me. It takes a long time for me to recover the full price. Of course once I recover the price I do continue the recieve BosTax, that is the drawback. You benefit from a low start-up cost and little risk (in case your business isn't booming you're not out $2500 for 5 vendors).

That, good friends, is BosTax.

Q: What about support?
A: I've made a couple of free tools to help out with preview scrpting (de-rez (die) routines, movement).

I'm also working on script update dispensers. For $1 current BosVendor owners can get updated scripts so they're always getting the latest fixes/functions.

Anywho, hope the clears up some of the common questions!

Are the issues of items spawned from vendors stripped of permissions fixed (meaning fixed by LL) ?

thanks

oops- also, does the price include product (script) updates?

I'm using llGiveInventory(), and so far haven't noticed any permission oddness -- but you never know. Hopefully Lindens will squash any permission altering bugs.

Once I complete the script dispensers, script updating (aka "support") will be $1. This method allows updates without having to catch me online, you simply visit my shop and check the update dispenser for updates. :)

Sounds great Bos! Matina and I will probably be buying a few for our store :)

One question I have (which I'm asking here as I can't get in-game atm) : Is it possible for the vendor to sell objects for multiple people? For example, we both sell clothing, so we'd like the vendor to pay the money to whoever created the clothes when something is sold. I was working on something like this, but I'm too easily distracted :D

Yes it's possible (much as how I pay myself BosTax on sales, same basic routine). BUT -- do to some reservations about adding this as a feature to the standard model BosVendors I would most likely opt to do this as a custom add-on for a specific vendor(s) and for specific keys to be paid (hardcoded into the script vs dynamic/user definable).

Please pester me (IM's, meet me in game, etc) about this else it may slip my mind.
