I'm working on creating items for vendors to help them provide better services for their clients. So I'd like to hear what kind of easy to use things would be useful to you the salesmen & women of second life?
Currently I've made a secureTag system which lets vendors be able to provide trial use versions of items (by simply dropping a tag script into the trial object) so customers can try items in the store but the item de-rezes itself after 1 minute away from the store. Is there any kind of demand for this from vendors?
What else do you want?

-Alias That sounds like a great idea, esp. for clothing. In addition to that, I'd like to be able to update all vendors from a central repository. This would apply to situations where duplicate vendors are placed in various locations/malls. Whereas the SLData vendors provide a useful XML-RPC Web interface for tracking order history, adding to that some sort of inventory management tool would be most excellent.

Unfortunately it works only for things made of prims because there isnt a way to attach a script to clothes However belt buckles, hats, tails, wings and other avatar accessories are not a problem. by updating vendors, do you mean adjusting the contents & prices of vendor boxes, or is there more to it? Inventory management, as in having a vendor only sell a limted number of some item and then removing it from the vendor's inventory? ie being able to offer a large limited edition of 250 prints from all your vendors in total? -alias

-Alias I"m curious... what's to prevent the buyer from deleting the secureTag script?

god, thanks Cubey Terra for making me take a look at that! I'd kind of gone on the assumption that no modify meant no modify.... Appearantly no modify doesn't mean no modify it means open me up and dissect me at will. Oh well it was educational to write the scripts.... Any other ideas that aren't gonna be gimped by iffy back-end design choices?

You know, I like the sound of that. I'm very much a try-before-you-buy person because there have been a few items I've purchased that looked a lot better on the box. Similarly, as has been discussed in this thread, if there was a way to do trial versions of clothing, that would be bomb diggity bomb. There.com has Try-o-Matic machines, and if SL had something similar, I can see it increasing interest in consumer goods. I would like this.
