Can someone please explain this discrepancy?

Okay. Here's the deal.

Why is it that I can strap on a rocket pack and fly across a sim at about 2 sec/sim speed... yet when I get into my aircraft, go to a similar height (say 4000meters to avoid obstructions and rendering issues), I can invariably NOT make it across more than six or seven sims, and usually at a much slower speed? As has often been reported, I will get ejected from the aircraft on sim border crossing handoff errors or simply not hit the speeds that I reach with the rocket pack.... or worse, the SL client will lock and I might even see th eblue screen of death? Never happens with a rocket pack... though I do occasionally run into the top of screen showing one location, the Map funciton showing me somewhere else and if I drop down to the ground, find I am actually in a third location.

Any explanations?

One you wear one you sit on different script models apply from a vehicle to an attachment is about as much as I can give you as a reason.

Terrorists.

You keep getting hit by shoulder-launced Stinger missles from the ground.

The SL insurgency lives, my friend.

Maximum speed for vehicles using the typical vehicle scripting commands is 40 meters per second. Push attachments are not limited by this.

If you're getting the BSOD be sure to report that - it's a bug, not an intentional limitation.

Okay. Allow me to clarify..

It's the same flight script.. I simply added some sit fucntion code to the rocket pack and rotated the direction of flight control reference frame 90 degrees to change the movement/response controls appropriately when I stuck it in the vehicle.

Anything else?

Lektor.. nothing sinister. I simply was trying to help Picabo and posted a question under her name using her computer... then forgot to switch to it again. I never left "reading" the forums.. I just don't post anymore on my own.

We are both inworld right now if you care to check that out - in Fame to be exact. But if you want to make a technical question out to be something sinister or humorous (as you have already tried in another thread (guess who's back), go for it).

Ya know, the welcome back was sincere. Since you quoted the other thread you must have read it. Why can't you relax?

You won't be able to figure this out with your last few remaining brain cells. Duh, Leck.

I get stuck between sims if I wear as little as an X-flight carbon rod. A single script in a single prim. It's been happening since beta and it wont go away soon.
As for vehicles, count your blessings! I remember when we had to slow down to a crawl just to try and make it across the border.

I believe the reason is that the airplane calculates physics in a less efficient than the rocketpack. This is because you sit and ride the airplane whereas the rocketpack more or less modifies your av's already efficient flight physics, and the rocketpack is both non-physical and phantom as an attachment.
