We have been IM stormed in-world about the Oculas, in particular its origins.
Rather than type away in-world I feel its easier to show you via links and images.
theOculas is a RL product that we have created to fuse Visual, Sound and Environment. It exists, its real and is being used in a number of applications:
Universities,
Health and Medical use,
Entertainment
Film (its been heavily featured in two upcoming sci-fi movies [nda] )
Presenations
Office space (creating an office with an office environment)
Interior Design
Design Museums
Therapy
Home use
The real Oculas is made from two parts, this has taken two years to develop. Very much like the SL prim limits, we had the same problems in RL
The locking door mechanism (including the lock) are a 3D lock that moves on a X,Y,Z axis. We actually developed and came up with the final design in SL about 10 months ago. The paint and finishing is done to the same standard as a super car, it takes 18 coats and applications to get the sheen and finish; the colour range was tested on avalon. over the past 6 months. The actual shell is carbon fibre with teflon strips, this so specialists it can only be achieved by utilising yacht building techniques.
Again, this proves how SL goes beyond its original programming.

We are launching a new site in the next 10 days, so please take note this is not up to our usual standard of web design.
We are also planning an Oculas island over the coming few weeks, this will be an exploration of the island being used as a 'window to the heavens'.
What we think is neat about all this, is that theOculas is a real life product that was born for Second Life.
We have be blown away by the enthusiam and ideas that have been discussed over the last two days; one person has contacted us in regard to medical therapy use.
