It is with regret and a feeling of creating a hole in SL that I announce the "sinking" of the SLS Dreamweaver, SL's only aircraft carrier. The event occured in Butsu sometime between 1 and 3 am PST, 1-11-05.
Built by Konigman Lippmann and Korg Stygian, this 243meter long behemoth was the research, development and production facility for Lippmann's F-35 and Stygian's A6M Zero.
Apotheus Silverman created and ran a 737 route from Abbott's Aerodrome to the carrier - only a touch and go landing, but it was fun to jump out while the 737 was rising through the flight deck from the hangar deck after crashing there due to the poor sim crossing handoff that nearly always occred going from Shinda to Butsu (over the GOM ATM location).
Vendors/creators who sold items there included: Aimee Weber, Krashen Byrne, Huns Valen, and Jared Zander among others at varous times.
It is with relief that we announce that no hands were lost when the ship sank, disappearing quietly beneath the virtual waves --- it must have sunk deep as there now be islands where the carrier once rocked gently in the water.
The cause of the sinking was not the War in Jessie, nor the drahma of the forums, nor even the dire economic forecast that provided empty fuel for the carrier's power plant. The captain merely lost sight of the North Star and sailed into the Sea of Ignominy, through the Horse Latitudes of Hopelessness and into the Abyss of Despair.
The only evidence that this event occured is that new maps are being made with islands where the carrier once was... a reverse Krakatoa if you will.
