I LOVE drama titles, HALF-LIFE 2 HAS GONE GOLD!Offical Press Release Now quoteage From: someone Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games) today announced that Half-LifeĀ® 2, the sequel to one of the most critically acclaimed PC titles in gaming history, will ship to retail outlets around the world in November. The Company confirmed that Half-Life 2, developed by Valve Software, has gone gold with a planned retail street date of November 16, 2004. The countdown to the highly anticipated retail street date has begun around the world, as VU Games completes plans to ship localized versions of Half-Life 2 simultaneously in English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Korean, Thai and Japanese. Now, this also brings up the topic, what are your views on half-life 2? Will you be purchasing it? DO YOU REALLY CARE? My answers, revolutionary, already did(Steam package), YES I F*%KING CARE, THATS WHY I MADE THIS TRHEAD!

I kind of care. I'm a gamer afterall... while I still have yet to play anything Half Life related(yeah, I KNOW I said I was a gamer, but FPS' make me too jumpy sometimes), I think I'll probably be at least trying HL2. I mean, it's been the most drama-soaked game release I can ever remember, I'd be missing out on history, right? Glad it's finally golden. November's one busy gaming month.. sheesh.

Did they release any dev tools other than the custom version of Soft Image? I'm hoping they let content creators sell scripted objects to level designers over Steam

Jack, im an expert level designer over VHE, with over 4 years of experiance with the tool If you want something used in a new level, gimmie! (Yes, I can notice he wants HL2 to be like SL )

I can't wait to see this game just to see how soda cans fly out of a busted dispenser! The physics are gonna add a lot to the drama. Apart from that, I don't play many video games but this title has been hotly anticipated for SO long.

Im looking forward to it. I am going to wait and see if my local store offers a deal on it though, if no deal, I will give the $50 to Best Buy. STEAM cant even keep my favorites saved, Im really leary of giving them any credit card info.

HL was a really interesting and immersive game. So was Deus Ex. There arent many games like those anymore. I cant afford even half of it but if somehow a friend of mine gets it I will sure be borrowing it off of them.

Loved HL1, anxious for HL2.
And I think the fact that a game has gone Gold simply on pre-sales is newsworthy.

Invisible War I wanted to get more into, and I enjoyed it a lot, but the mechanics deteriorated my experience so I still prefer the first one more. I came into SL looking in part for cyberpunk stuff like some sort of a Deus Ex MMROPG, and am glad to find so much more here.

HL was a groundbreaking game and it really did an incredible job of setting the stage for the genre, though w. Tribes and the open environments it was in a few aspects behind the curve. HL2 thus far has been buggy and I worry about its release, there are already near unstoppable exploits in the multiplayer and the game has yet to be released. That said I think HL1 truly shined as being an incredible platform for the modding community, Counterstrike was hugely successful (still is) and for hundreds of thousands (like me) it provided an excellent team based environment for competition. Once HL2 is released CS will likely do the same but the exploits are going to be rampant upon initial release. I will of course pick it up and hope for the best, but mostly I want to see it released so Vampire: Bloodlines can finally be placed on the shelves. With World of Warcraft gearing up for release and Tribes:Vengeance competition on my plate I don't know if HL2 will have near the playtime the original had on my PC.

STEAM cant even keep my favorites saved, Im really leary of giving them any credit card info. Loki, I know why, same thing happened to me. When you quit a game, you type in 'quit' in the console, not allowing the ingame server browser to save your favorites that you added that session. To fix this use the steam server browser (in the main menu, click 'servers' instead of the game, and just change the filter.) Hope this helps And for the record, so far HL2 scores have been 97%,97%, and a 98% from PC gamer US (Making it the highest rated game, alongside alpha centuari, in their history.)

CS is already out, is the only multiplayer portion of HL2, and I haven't heard any problems with exploits. Then again, I don't follow such things TOO closely.

From: someone Will you be purchasing it? Got it for free when I purchased my ATI video card a few months ago. Of course, I don't get it until it is released. But now with SL, I don't know if I will have time to play it. I totally abandoned Doom 3 which I purchased around the same time I joined SL. -tito
