When I go looking for land, a big thing I see is people buying either all the land in the sim or buying large plots around the sim so other people can't buy land. I see it too much and wonder why you do something like that? It's just preventing other people from finding places to build.

I dont get that either. I used to have a lot of land, but taxes were killing me. I dont see the advantage of large land holdings, especially when they go undeveloped.

Maybe to save prim count in sims to reduce lag? Just a thought...

To store cash.
While I have over 3500$ in cash AND my tax is less than my stipend, I buy land from that cash. Preferably in Aqua/Tan, as they can store twice the cash for the same tax.
That simple.
