With the amount of truely bizarre inventions that come out of Japan it would hardly be surprising, but when I was there the vast majority of public toilets were still the squatting type where you don't come into contact with any surfaces whatsoever (unless you have appalling balance and manage to fall over in which case it's a total hygiene disaster). |
