How will terraforming for others be affected by the new system? I have done major terraforming projects in the past for others and in the process have bought and released land that was on the edge of their land to complete the terraforming process. Will this be a dying skill?
To bad terraforming doesn't have a way to show up in developers incentives.

Sulu, the way I see it you will be able to buy as much land as you like, but you'll only be "taxed" on it if you keep it. I dont know for how long you will need to hold it for it to be considered as "permanent" but a quick terraforming job should be fine.

Are you sure Eggy? I have been hearing rumors that you will have to pay for the land...altho it will be cheaper than it is now...and will lose that cost when you release it. I wish a Linden would confirm or deny this...or perhaps there will be a way to buy and release for a short period of time?
I love terraforming!!!

I know what you mean - I jump on the chance to terraform whenever there is a large amount of land that allows me to do that - it really improves the look of the world.

I don't think I'll do that anymore as currently the rules on land allotments suggest that if you ever go over your current allotment (even for a day), you'll have to pay for the next-higher rate tier.

It takes a bit of work to go over your tier limit, though. First it gives you a warning in-game, then it dumps you out to your web browser to confirm that you want to increase your limit. It's impossible to go over accidentally.

Carnildo's right. we have to agree to pay the higher rate to be allowed to purchase land over our allotment. but we will apparently lose the money we spend buying adjacent squares to terraform either for someone or just to fix something.

i've done a lot of purchase/fix/releasing. especially lately with all the holes being left by people abondoning their overages. but i won't be doing it as much if it's just going to cost me the money. i can budget my 125L$ event pay (jarod & i cohost and split the money); that'll buy a few square meters a week.
