Lecktor pointed this out to me Friday and it really works!
You can VASTLY improve your Tringo scores if you get a card of your own to play with, instead of pushing madly on somebody else's card, and then wondering why it doesn't work right.

I find sometimes a sacrifice of 7 points is well-worth it if you can skip a turn to get a desirable block to help you fill in a 3x3er. Those can be schweeet, especially when it comes down to the last few pieces.
