I know this weekend was incredibly stressful for you dealing with multiple denial of service attacks and all that entails. You still managed to keep us informed, and keep the grid up and running and get the site back online as quickly as possible. As always, your efforts are really appreciated, and are what set you guys apart from most companies. Thank you again.

Knowing firsthand what a DOS attack does to servers, I'm impressed with just how well the grid fared. TY to all the Lindens for their hard work keeping SL up and running!

Curmudgeon that I am.. I have to ask if you guys (other residents) thank McDonalds or Burger King for fixing their burgers as they are advertised?
I certainly don't.
That LL go the site and grid back up after a problem is appreciated - but only as much as I appreciate any other service I pay for after a similar abscence/problem... I certainly don't thank my ISP for coming back online... of Ma Bell for restoring service after a storm.
Sometimes, I just have to wonder what this attachment to the corporation is.
I am not putting anyone down for these posts.. I simply am amazed by them.

Korg, the day one of those companies produces a burger that bears any resemblance to the handsome examples in thier advertising, you bet I'll thank them. And I *have* thanked Mountain bell employees for being out in te ice and snow, restoring my phone service. I've even taken hot chocolate and coffee out to them for it. It's not any attechmant to a coperation, it's an appreciation for the human beings doing the work to bring us what we want or need. I also offer my thanks to Linden Lab's employees for thier hard work over what would nomrally be days off. I'm not putting you down for your post, but I am amazed that you're amazed.

Robin and Philip both went out of their way to post (several times) on Cris' SL fan site forums to help keep SL users informed of the situation over the weekend. They also made software update downloads available to users who might need them via that fan site. I know I, for one, was happy to know what was going on.

I say thanks and well done too!
It costs nothing to be polite and thankful and reminds us all that it's real live human beings that are keeping SL alive.
Hurrah the Lindens!!

Yes! The effort on keeping us up-to-date on what was going is deeply appreciated. I saw announcements both on Cristiano's site and on Efnet's #secondlife IRC channel.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Excellent customer service goes a long way on keeping people happy.

Excellent customer service is transparent to customers. I logged onto SL several times this weekend, and noticed no problems...I wasn't even aware there was one until I read the forums today. Kudos to the Lindens!!!!

Well Korg the day that I can call, IM or email and get a response from the head of Burger King or McDonals will be the day I start affording them courtesies as well. I have never seen a company with such acccessible people (even in times of stress( as LL. I really just don't think we appreciate them enough. so BRAVO !!!!! to all at Linden Labs for the continuing amazing work !!! Best Regards, Baccara

Korg,
I understand your response, but I have to concur with most of the people that have replied to your post. Linden Labs is not "just another business" to me and to many others here.
Maybe it's a by-product of "growing up" with them through beta testing and then go-live, but I do feel loyal to LL more than I do to normal businesses I interact with.
For one thing, I know that the creators of Second Life don't view this as just a job; that they are visionary in their aspirations; that they are inspired by the members and view this as a collaborative venture between the members and the LL team.
I've gotten my money's worth out of Second Life. I don't regret a penny I've spent. How often does THAT happen???
But still, I can see how it may seem odd to you if you're not a Linden-groupie. LOL.
