thinking about making an SL movie

I'm thinking about making a 3 - 5 minute movie, "filmed" entirely in SL. Once the movie is complete, I would like for it to be availabe on websites for everyone to watch. I am considering approaching Lindens about "donating" a sim (for a few days so that we have less lag issues) or web hosting for the movie.

My idea is very high level right now; there's lots of decisions to be made. I don't have a story line formed yet. I'm kinda leaning towards a romantic-comedy, which would have a broad appeal. There are technical issues to resolve, like how will dialog, if any, will "happen". Once everything is filmed, I was planning on using Premiere to edit and finalize the movie.

I'm looking for some people interested in participating. These are the areas I was thinking of specifically:

1 - script -- deciding the theme for the movie and how the story will be told

2 - sets -- either building sets or identifying locations for filming (and getting land holders permissions of course), goes hand in hand with #1 as the sets help tell the story

3 - acters/actresses -- yup gotta have a few AVes

4 - animators -- may need to add character animations to help tell the story.

5 - background music -- any composers interested in showcasing their creativity?

6 - filming (director) -- I think its called laying taping the RL. I plan to do this but it might help to have additional help.

7 -- graphics -- both for titles in the movie as wells as for set building and AV costumes

Movies have been done very successfully on THERE.com. The themes are usually very funny, actors/actresses GREAT and the films much viewed and enjoyed by fellow THEREians. I think it's a great idea to do movies in SL. Run with it and best of luck.

May I film a documentary on the making of the film? No, seriously.

How about filming the voting off of the Survivor Second Life Series we will have going on? Most like drama intense with bits and pieces of comic relief.

Wo is paying for the sim to do it on so I don't think the LIndens will donate.

big update after my last post in here.....
Slollywood is now up and running, the slollywood sim is made up of the following

bayside: this is where most of the shops are, and there are still some spots to rent.

seaview: down in this area there is a small but cheep outdoor market and next to the market is the Slollywood Casting Agents & next to the casting agents is stars gallary, when we sign stars up our best stars will go into the gallary

Slollywood Drv: down here you will find Water paradise & The Amircan Diner a place to chill and chat to friends in a 1950 type of diner.
also at the far end of the road is the slollywood staff estate, where the studio staff live

5th av: not much along here apart from the studio outer wall but at the far end on the corner of 5th & Bay is lookers club and casino II if you like to play on the slots there are some nice ones there...

the center of the sim is taken up by the studio its self
we have 3 large sound stages and 2 tv studios, in the tv studio at the mo are the prim time program sets for jerry springer Sl and Blind Date the 2 main primtime progs
the studio also has a nice US street backlot and on the other lot is a roman type set for now.

Slollywoodhills: if you fly up a little way from the hub across on the other side of studio you will see the Slollywood sign on the hill side, up here we have residents living and some rented homes to live in, as well as residents area on the hill it also as a very lovly old church this can by hired for weddings etc....

also along bayside:
if you are from the old school of blaxxun VR you will prob remember a pub called the jolly travler, this as be re-created in Slollywood so its kind of a land mark in VR terms....

just across from the telly hub is the main studio gates to the left and right side of the gates are the studio info (can pick up contact sheets from here if you want to be in our current production Star 5 (Sci-fi) just grab a note fill in and drop into box at slollywood casting agents.

I don't own an entire sim, but 400 short of 16,000 sqm with a beautiful mountain. If you like the setting, you can film on my land for free. I took down my build last night, as it's time for me to think up a new theme. Let me know if you are interested.
