I have heard of Mallomars. I have never tasted one, primarily because for many years they simply were not available. Then I grew up. For some reason today the very thought of a new treat makes my mouth water. Perhaps it is time to renew my search for this mythical beast!

No problem!
I warn you, though, they shrunk them considerably this year. They're now bite size! *sob*

ick! If you can't find mallomars near you then just make your own... Mix lots of sugar with the shaving cream of your choice then coat in wax. Yum!

Well then, It's best that I am here on the west coast and have been removed from my first childhood love, mallomars that is. I couldnt bear to see the decline of something so majestic. I can mourn my memories, pure and sweet, gooey and chocolately and marshmellowy... From: someone Originally posted by James Miller No problem!

If you put a marshmallow in microwave, it exapnds pretty quickly, as all the air in it heats up and the sugar melts.
If you put chocolate in the microwave it melts.
What happens if you put a mallowmar in the microwave?
Does the chocolate melt fast enough to allow the expansion of the marshamallow?
Does the chocolate stay firm but not have enough structural integrity to contain the marshmallow and therefore breaks and shatters?
Does the chocolate contain the marshmallow for a long time, allowing it to melt down to sugar syrop leaving a large air cavity at the top?
SCIENCE NEEDS THE ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS!!!
(P.S. Fen, watch what you say about monkeys!)

I have never heard of a mallobar. I take it they are a gooey, chocolaty, marshmallowy candy?

In sunny CA we eat Pockey sticks. No Mallowmars here.

I found Pocky for the first time the other day at the store. I bought a box, it was pretty good. They were strawberry. Yummy.

here's a vote for Mallomars - they are so much more delicious than pinwheels or other pretenders

Wed, Mallomars are a thing of faith. But may I suggest you get a monkey, give a mallomar, and stick the mallomar holding monkey in the microwave..... From: someone Originally posted by Wednesday Grimm

The only problem with that proposal is that I don't have a microwave. I guess I could use the one at work, but they specifically put up a sign saying "no monkeys pls."

I hit up a Walmart and Target (yes, I know, no grocery stores, well, sorta, it's a Super Walmart) and couldn't find them.
So I settled for Hershey's Marshmallow Pumpkins.
And, to test Wed's theory, I will put one in the microwave. Right now.

Awwww... Poor marshmallow pumpkin.
Setting the timer for 2 minutes, I put our guinea pig in. Within 30 seconds, the marshmallow had expanded and blown out the bottom of the pumpkin. Seems the chocolate seams couldn't handle it.
The pumpkin shaped chocolate shell, however, was fine.
And the best part of this experiment is I get to eat the results. No cleanup!

These marshmellowy chocolate-covered cookies are STILL the best.
