Yesterday I did something I rarely do, I stopped working for a moment. I decided to do some sight seeing in Second Life. Instead of flying around, I found a road and just took a stoll to see where it would bring me. I had forgotten how many cool builds there are in Second Life and how creative some of you people are. I walked across about 13 sims and ran in to some great people.

My Point. If you ever feel bored in SL, stop flying around and take a stroll to see everything at ground level. It is a totally different experience.

That's very true. SL seems much more like an interconnected place if you've walked parts of it. It's also, as you said, a wonderful way to meet new people and see things.

I did the same thing yesterday...a friend and I walked along a couple sims
and just saw some of the houses and all. There are a lot of creative people
in this game and some of the builds they create definitely inspiring.

Great thread. I'd also encourage everyone to take a stroll around the new northern continent if you get a chance. They are full of wide-open spaces, with cobblestone roads ideal for walking. The waterfall is a nice place to sit and have a picnic, too. :)

So very true. recently I began to re-explore SL, starting at my home and working outward in slow circles. I land in an unexplored area, and then walk the rest of the time. I have found so many wonderful things not even a full sim from my long-time home. Things change so fast in SL and there is just so much to see.

Two the very cool builds were a small shop selling animated snakes in, or out of terrariums. It's very well done. Wish I could remember the name.

Also, a bunch of cows with thier brains exposed and lightbulbs above thier heads (Cows with ideas). Again, my memory for names is non-exsistant, but very funny stuff.

And a large and extremely well done church. Very detailed. Arrg..wish I wasn't at work so I could log in and get the names of the builders and locations. They are all very close to Mimas.

ha I wish I wasn't at work too!

Anyway, if you remember the names, let me know. I like to just explore when I am
bored. :) makes things not so boring anymore ;)

Since we got the island, I tend to stay there and sometimes I need to be reminded just why I am here. Just wandering works every time I need it to.

The SL we create for ourselves is great, but the SL everyone else makes is really amazing.

If you consider 5 sims away close, could this be the church you saw?

I don't regret accompanying you for some legs of the journey. THAT WAS EPIC! :)

Hey I know, maybe in the future we could have virtual walkathons for charity!

I think Cubey needs to organize another Walkabout for the new continent or something. Maybe start on the mainland and walk past the oil rig and once around the new sims. :D

I could make a commemorative tshirt for it... ;)
