I know a lot of crazy ideas get proposed to the military and with package funding even more gets a tad of consideration. This is one of the funnier ones.

THE Pentagon considered developing a host of non-lethal chemical weapons that would disrupt discipline and morale among enemy troops, newly declassified documents reveal.

Most bizarre among the plans was one for the development of an "aphrodisiac" chemical weapon that would make enemy soldiers sexually irresistible to each other. Provoking widespread homosexual behaviour among troops would cause a "distasteful but completely non-lethal" blow to morale, the proposal says.

Good to know that since Nixon banned chemical and biological weapons programs in the US decades ago, we were still looking into them in the 90s. *sighs*

I heard this on Air America on the way into work this morning and I thought it was a skit. I could not imagine that it was real. Wonder if they have read any history and know that homosexuality was encouraged in Greek and Roman troops because the men tended to form relationships and actually fight harder for one another...

I don't know why they bother, it's long been proven that lsd, which can be absorbed through the skin, is a perfectly effective and highly amusing method for incapcitating an army.
