If you would be so kind as to reply to this message i would be very greatfull. I have a few questions about the planned changes.
I would like to know what is ment by "your" definition of the term " deemed educational " I hope educational would mean just that and not only apply to SL help.
Having read some of the posts out there I am afraid this plan will stop a vital roll of the game., the event.
To allow linden support of only "educational " themed events seems to be a misguided venture. There are many people from many parts of life who play SL. And to only suport one groups interest is not in the games best interest.
One sugestion if I may, why not reduce the pay as mentioned but allow mature theamed sims to host and recieve suport for
having an adult theamed event? Maybe also placing a 3 or 4 event pay support restriction per day? It is one thing to slow the rate of inflation but you must not stop growth of new players. Many people that have paid into the game and support the game monthly injoy such events and there are many people that do join to take part in such events excluding them will reduce growth anyway you look at it. Also these events produce other jobs and opertunity for the newbies and exp players to make some LD. I am sure you would agree the game can not turn into a game only for builders and scripters? These events also lead people to buy items made buy these scripters and builders. It is these very people that support the creative minds of SL. Yes I agree totaly some prices have gotten out of hand, but the proposed changes will have a broard affect that I believe is being over looked.

the Lindens already had the limit of 1 supported event per day in place.

I personally believe that most of these changes are for the good, and will bring up the L$ value on GOM, and also help reduce many "silly events", such as those held at clubs.

Yes, I do know that many people are angry about this... but also, think about it. The L$ price on items will lower, gradually, as there is less and less per user overall.

The only problem i see so far with this change is the rating price which is now 25L$ per rating. Completely throws off the old system. Newbs will run around being like "holy omg how the heck did he give 80,000 L$ worth of ratings!?"

I also think that this will help encourage people to gain more skills in SL, other than just hosting events. Being a scripter or builder or animator or whatever does pay alot more than hosting an event...

lol as many said they do not have the skills to do it and hosting is their only way of making some type of money... not everyone can affors photoshop not everyone can afford a poser and not everyones smart to write a script... and some people just cant build ... so its not their fault.... this is a game and many people are not here to earn money so they can sell it ... then your talking about silly events ... wernt you a manager at the Edge? and didnt you throw those silly events yourself?....

Please see the intial announcement post (/3/e5/32460/1.html), which includes this description:

"Given this, we've decided to eliminate the Linden-funded financial incentives for holding events. With the exception of educational classes for the benefit of newbies (mentor and instructor-led events), we'll stop support payments at the end of this week (16 January). There won't be any change to dwell payments. "

and some people just cant build

Look for building lesson events, or ask my good friend Obunnywan Manimal (not sure if she teaches building or anything, but can't hurt to ask)

I was a manager, but I didn't do events. Hosted one, hated it. The lindens goofed up on the payment on top of it. I am a scripter. I did scripting for the Edge, but now I have been fired over a silly deal where I owned some land and wouldnt give it away for next to nothing (1L/sqm)

The ones to suffer most from these changes are the "casual players", those who have not the time to invest to learn scripting, photoshop, etc. Sure anyone can learn to build, depending on their degree of imagination. So, should only highly imaginative players be able to make any decent money in game? Those who already have skills, or time to learn skills required?
The people with limited time, who come here to just relax, unwind from a hard days work, are history. They either buy their L$, yield to a life of poverty, or find another game. I fear too many will choose the latter. I'm an A+ certified tech, I run my own computer shop irl, and dont really have the time and energy right now to put into learning. Nor do I want to. I'm quite happy buying what I need, and working IG for extra L$. So, my stipend is cut in half, prices will "slowly" drop, in the meantime I cant afford squat!! I'm hurt, the creator of the products is hurt, and MAYBE, over time, things will even out, only to a degree. The damage is probably permanent, at least to a degree. It would be better to do nothing than such an obvious misallocation of power.
As for ratings...I guess those days are over. Yes, it wasnt a good system. Now its nada, 0, zip. No system. Better? Duh? Who's ideas were these?

your stipend is not cut in half! Your stipend BONUS will be cut in half....big difference. By the way most likely for the average player the cut will be approx 37 Linden dollars.

Plus you'll be spending less in superfluous rating. Just a thought.
