OK, to diverge slightly, communication -- including email into and out of the system, XML-RPC into and out of the system, IM between objects and people, listen processing, messaging between objects both within a sim and between sims -- has become a high nail issue post 1.6. I realize that it seems like we've left communications for a long time, but we are about to return to it. Things for you to consider:
a) How much would you pay per KB (over some base limit) of data moving between the system and the real world? Would you prefer L$ or US$?
b) How important is object-to-object communication within a simulator versus between objects in different simulators? How about neighboring simulators?
c) Is outbound XML-RPC the best protocol for you? What about REST APIs or RSS?
d) Would having to whitelist outbound traffic bother you?

a) I would prefer $L, maybe $1/KB??
b) between Sim comms need the most help.
c) any of these would be fine if they really worked.
d) no, not at all.
