From: someone While the heavily scrutinized touch-screen voting machines seemed to produce results in which the registered Democrat/Republican ratios largely matched the Kerry/Bush vote, in Florida's counties using results from optically scanned paper ballots - fed into a central tabulator PC and thus vulnerable to hacking – the results seem to contain substantial anomalies.
In Baker County, for example, with 12,887 registered voters, 69.3% of them Democrats and 24.3% of them Republicans, the vote was only 2,180 for Kerry and 7,738 for Bush, the opposite of what is seen everywhere else in the country where registered Democrats largely voted for Kerry.
In Dixie County, with 9,676 registered voters, 77.5% of them Democrats and a mere 15% registered as Republicans, only 1,959 people voted for Kerry, but 4,433 voted for Bush.
The pattern repeats over and over again - but only in the counties where optical scanners were used. Franklin County, 77.3% registered Democrats, went 58.5% for Bush. Holmes County, 72.7% registered Democrats, went 77.25% for Bush. http://www.commondreams.org/views04/1106-30.htm~Ulrika~

That's odd because I've read that the optical scanners are usually the most accurate.

Thats nice but it doesn't take into account all the democratic voters who actually voted for Bush. Just because a county statisticly shows people as being Democrats or Republican doesn't mean anything.

What do you think Ulrika? You are level headed and intelligent - I tend to go off into dark clouds of paranoia, believing things like http://www.911truth.org/I want it to be true about the vote - I want it to be exposed. But it seems that if 'they' have gotten this far... it is going to be hard stopping them.

Actually I watched a news story, where some of the touchscreen booths were heavily flawed in their numbers, where there were more votes being counted than people voting and they always seemed to screw up heavily in Bushs favor.
Not saying there is a conspiracy, maybe it was just a software bug and the bug happend to work in Bushs favor because his name comes first in the alphabet. Seems pretty fishy though.
Either on cnn or msnbc, cant remember at this time.

No matter what your political affiliation, it should scare the heck out of you that this is even in question! Some members of congress have been trying to legislate a paper trail for the electronic voting machines for two years now and each time it has been floored by the house majority.
I can accept that my political views are in the minority - I cannot accept that my vote counts for nothing and as it stands now, I cannot truly tell which is what.
Pressure needs to be put on congress to establish a standard for federal elections and the same should be done at the state level. I for one will be writing to my congressman and I will be donating to BlackBox.Org. Even though Bev Harris has some credibility issues - the fact still remains that there is no audit trail on these machines and BlackBox is trying to put pressure on those in authority to establish standards that we all can trust.
I strongly urge you to email your Congressman, Senator and Govenor.

Umm, small question. Who the hell is developing these voting systems? This many reports of problems with them scares me. Who's developing these systems? Really? Who is, monkeys on type writers?

Well, some of the machines are made by Diebold where Walden O'Dell, chief executive of Diebold famously stated: 'I am committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president next year' http://azplace.net/index.php?itemid=309http://www.motherjones.com/commentary/columns/2004/03/03_200.html

All I have to say is... duh.
This once again in florida, nothing against the residents, but Bush's brother is the Governor (sp?) of that state? And its odd how the same state came up in the second consecutive vote for problems.

If you want to do it that way Wiggle, then I suggest Arnold Shwarzenegger vs Sylvester Stalone for the 2008 election.
