Hi all, SL newbie here. (can't beat the new price ;)

I was just wondering if any of the regions in SL had actual servers outside the US, perhaps in Australia...? I couldn't see any clear indication that there is. The game seems ok, but would be much better without the multiple seconds of lag time.

I found a group of Aussies with the search tool, but didn't see straightaway how to contact them. (I'll look harder tomorrow though). Perhaps they know the secret of Lo Ping.

Yo Tzarius, that's a kewl name. A warm welcome to SL!

Currently, all of the SL servers (SLervers?) are in USA. Who knows what might happen in the future, though?

Conceivably there'll be a time when the European grid expansions are actually, y'know, in Europe. :)

The myth of European servers ranks up there with the integration of Havok2. Nobody really believes them anymore.

To answer you question, no servers anywere else, but in the USA. As for the Aussie groups, just a quick seach came up with Psyke Phaeton as leader of the Aussie group, try contacting them. Also, when searching for group, the best way to get in contact with them is to contact the leader, which is listed in the details.

Heh.

The solution (as another one of the AU players), is iiNet's new broadband plans. If you can get on the mythical 12mbit DSLAMs -- SL runs fairly well. (usually 150ms ping for me)

I've got no troubles with me and a partner sitting on Optus cable. Performance is quite acceptable, IMO. YMMV, of course.

Thanks all! SL has a bit of a learning curve, but it's not insurmountable.

Also, regards the mingling of peoples from all around... wouldn't it be interesting to be able to see the local time for each SLer?
