I used to like Rage Against the Machine a LOT when I was in highschool. I remember hanging out w/ friends saying "These guys are awsome 'cause you hear that sound? You hear it? They made it with their guitar, without crazy effects pedals, amazing huh..." And we'd rock out to the lyrics. I didn't really understand what the lyrics meant. At that age I would imagine they were talking about smashing VCR's and stuff.
Songs like,
Killing in the Name
Take the Power back
Know Your Enemy
Township Rebellion
all have totally new meaning to me now. I kinda feel bad that I didn't understand the lyrics ( I hope I understand them now). I gotta wonder if kids in highschool today saw Eminem's song "Mosh" video and had no idea it was about going to vote.
