Capital needs new markets. As newbie's learn the ropes, establish themselves witha good size lot, acquire thier essential purchases and learn to create for themselves, they no longer have as many needs for the L$, as most veterans can attest. Somebody made this point in the Feature Suggestions forum, that there seems to not be more producers than consumers.
SL needs to expand its boundaries. Everybody's homework is to log off and go find one friend to sign up for a basic account.

Most ten dollar accounts are social consumers. You're going to get TONs more consumers than producers. Not everyone can build a house... have you any idea the constant demand for new buildings by folks that can't/won't build for themsevles? That's just one facet... not everyone can/will make their own clothes, or scripts, or what have you. Don't worry, there are plenty of people that want to buy your t-shirts. LF

Residents refered: 64 I suggest you go to websites like Gamespot or MMORPG.COM and post some reviews. But... What we really need is games! Real complex roleplay game and other games. Take 10 sims and build our own Everquest (mature version) But for that we will need NPCs and ways to animate them. And ways to prevent cheating. Hmmm... lotsa work for Linden Lab?

It's too hard (slow) to for new players to get $ unless they buy it. We need a way to hire staff, to give people jobs - built into the client.

I'm not sure this is really a problem. For a one time $9.95 fee and considering you don't have to spend $50 on a boxed game, people can easily go buy some L$ on GOM to have some to start with and still be spending way less than they would on any other MMOG.

Alright, I got my RL brother onboard -- he's now on Second Life as Xyni Platini. A very gracious thankyou to you who helped educate and entertain him last night-slash-morning. He had his doubts about SL before this and was gingerly going to dip his toes into the water-that-does-not-behave-like-water. I find it's effective to dole out punchy, flavorful ideas that are not necessarily the most accurate, but which get the point across. For example: I was sharing the notion that Second Life is more like The Matrix than the upcoming Matrix Online, because in the latter, as Catherine Omega aptly put it, when you "code", it's merely a metaphor for point-and-click skillbuilding of sorts. On the other hand, in SL, one actually scripts! The term "metaverse" is cool but not enough people are aware of that compared to "Matrix". I call it a number of things, and if there were an ad campaign, it might have catchy taglines like this: Where can ya hug Care Bears? Only in Second Life.
Where's the best plywood you'll ever find? Only in Second Life.
Need a house-in-a-box? Instant car? Only in Second Life.
Where's a sim is not just a person, but a place? Only in Second Life.

Your brother chose unusually wisely; the Platini's are highly-regarded in these parts. His decision to enter Game in the upper echelon of society will open new doors for you as well, which is good, since you're clearly having so much trouble making a positive impression on your own ;-p - yoshi
