Hello, I am from TSO (The Sims Online) and I am extremely impressed with this game, despite the considerable amount of lag. There are things here I was never able to do in my old game, however I do have a few concerns. 1.) In TSO, there are morning maintnances, although I am happy that there isn't one here, I am concerned about how that affects my gameplay. 2.) One of my great concerns... I was pondering the fact that when the game goes down, we are not updated. On TSO, they tell you what is going on right away. They keep us updated, as to guestimated times when the cities will be back up, what the problem is, what they are doing to solve the problem, and so on. When I couldnt get into SL, I had NO idea what was going on, and there was nothing about it on the websites, so I assumed that it was only me. But Thank God for yahoo messenger, my friend IMed me with the same problem and soon I had a few friends who had the same problem. If it wasnt for that, in the 2 days I was inable to get onto the game, I would have assumed it was my problem and left the game for a new one. My point - maybe post a small blog or something to note what is going on... 3.) I have been bounced off the game without notices many times a day. If not for my friends in yahoo telling me I am offline, I wouldnt know. When I am in clubs people are still dancing, music is still playing, just no chat. When I am shopping, everything seems normal, and I can even put on new stuff.. I dont chat much the only thing that bothers me about this, is that when I am building, and building offline, when I come back online, everything is gone, because I wasn't online. My time wasted. Other than these problems, (and LAG!) I am loving the game, it is wonderful. Don't call me a Ranting Newbie, hehe, I am just posting things I am dealing with at the moment, to see if anyone shares my opinion on anything. Thanks for Reading!

Hey newbie, welcome to Second Life!
Outages that have been going on lately are not typical of what I've seen over almost a year of playing.
1. A good point. I guess it depends on the architecture of each programs... Did Maxis ever say what exactly they did each morning? (Database maintenance, check user content, update code, etc?)
2. Linden Lab generally posts what's going on as soon as they know. Maxis may have had a faster response because they are a much bigger sized company.
3. That's a really bizarre bug. You should report that immediately - I've never heard of anyone having similar problem. What kind of Internet connection do you have? What kind of router or firewall are you using, if any?

Hello! Let me see if I can help you out here: From: Same Page Hello, I am from TSO (The Sims Online) and I am extremely impressed with this game, despite the considerable amount of lag. There are things here I was never able to do in my old game, however I do have a few concerns.
1.) In TSO, there are morning maintnances, although I am happy that there isn't one here, I am concerned about how that affects my gameplay. Here there are no morning maintenances. There are "Scheduled Maintenances" and "Emergencies". What you experienced recently, was an emergency. From: Same Page 2.) One of my great concerns... During Scheduled maintenances, we are informed of the issues, the schedules and estimated ETA for comeback. It's true there is little information on the main site, but the forums in Linden Forums / Announcements will always have a word or 2 from the Lindens. From: Same Page 3.) I have been bounced off the game without notices many times a day. This has happened to me. Usually happens due to some network problem you might want to check out. Although it might happen randomly, it's usually not too frequent. Anyhow, this past weekend was not the best in terms of uptime and QOS, so... really can't use it as an example of normal service behaviour. From: Same Page Other than these problems, (and LAG!) I am loving the game, it is wonderful. Don't call me a Ranting Newbie, hehe, I am just posting things I am dealing with at the moment, to see if anyone shares my opinion on anything. Thanks for Reading! I love the game as well, just as much as I suffer and hate LAG. It's a known problem and is "supposedly" being addressed. When will it be fixed.. I dunno. Till then, do what I do: Avoid it, or suffer it!

3) happens to me regularly, but only when my connection drops dead for a few minutes (aka once a day usually, with our "DSL disconnects every 24 hours in order to spare IP addresses" rule ). I think I once got the "disconnected" message, when the SL screen turns into greyscale instead of colors, but normally when it's caused by a disconnection, you should notice through other ways (i.e. ICQ reconnecting, etc). Apart of this, though... not sure of what could cause it.

Ah very good points. Perhaps, some of the things I am experiencing as faulty Linden really isnt, i would like to see them handle a few more emergencies before I say anything further hehe. Also, I do have a question... How do I solve a high Packet Loss problem, I am bewtween 50 and 300% most the time, and let me tell you, it is horrible!! Someone told me in game that I need a new modem, but we just got this one a few months ago...
Also Tana - Nothing else crashes when this happens, my yahoo stays up, i am in voice with several other people in game at times VIA yahoo, and they always are telling me "Sam your offline" I just reply with an "Oh thanks.." and relog myself, lol.
