well i'm pretty ashamed to be part of the sl community today. i thought with the whole 18+ thing there'd be some maturity but last night (and still going!) it's turned into the usual internet forum full of flames and childish bullshit. Side A is screaming at Side B for doing exactly what Side A would do if it was in Side B's position and the other way round too. no debating going on just alot of nastyness and insults and yes-it-is-no-it-isn't-i-know-you-are-but-what-am-i.

1. yeah you have a right to post your opinion in here.
2. yeah you look like an asshole when you do it.

i'm talking to everyone on both sides of the political thing and both sides of both oceans. all y'all are acting like babies and you need a nap and a time out. you're saying shit that you would never ever say in person cause you know you'd end up shitting teeth. i hope it's worth it making enemies of your neighbors just so you could make your pointless point that didn't convince anyone of anything other than that you need a spellchecker.

i'm just glad no one outside of sl can read these forums. none of us is making the community look good or smart or literate. let's shut the fuck up about who's rich fat white men could beat up the other side's rich fat white men.

Personally, I think political drama is a vast improvement over the normal kinds of drama that happens in Second Life and in the forums.

I agree, citizens of democracies have a resposibility to take an interest in the politics of their nations. If people get passionate and sometimes less than civil while discussing them, it's because they really do matter.

Not that that's any excuse for bad manners.

So if everyone agrees with you then you will not leave the forums? If I say ok you are right I will never post anything that may offend you, will you stay? What good is a forum without different opinions? Are you actually saying that there is no need to discuss politics in America? Are politics removed from the individual?

Ask yourself these questions. If I really don't care about a forum post, well, I don't post. If I do then I post my honest opinion. If I am wrong then so be it but it is my opinion. Discussing politics doesn't make you smart but it makes you involved and it forces you to question your own motives and opinion.
