But in the hotline to linden, I've read either once or twice where someone replied saying, yeah that'll be in 1.6. My reaction was always "Oh Cool" and move on. Then my brain is empty again in 5 minutes. Edited: And for proof ... I DID just read that from the very link from this thread. Eck. It's cuz I'm hungry. Yeah that's it. _____________________

release notes are flying about just find a week minded person and get them from them. , but a tip from some one on there lunch brake, just mentioed the preview should be out in the next few days not weeks.

 I'm not going to spoil it for you but I can assure you it's freaking awesome It has just about everything we ever asked for and a few very interesting things no one saw coming! Can't wait for the official preview. _____________________

1.6 is... okay. It's a beta product for sure. There are a lot of issues, and those people that have been in there have be hard at work traking down bugs. I spent several hours last night JUST exploring the edit controls. I did a detailed analysis and made a similarly detailed list of suggestions, which I may be posting to a new thread to get people's opinions.
As the notes have been leaked, yes there is video streaming. It still has some problems, but it does work. It works like the streaming audio in that you have to be over the plot to see it, but then any prim face painted with the chosen texture will be showing the video. As many as you want. But leave the plot and they turn off. (I saw a Linden slap it on the landscape... freaky!) The biggest problem with it as it stands is a tendancy for your frame rate to go 1-2-3-PAUSE, 1-2-3-PAUSE, 1-2-3-PAUSE after watching the videos. Mom always said too much TV was bad for you! How attachments are handled by the system has changed. There are still probelems with them, but once those are fixed it should work better than now. Logging in is getting SUPER fast. Inivsible avatars (with visible attachments but no names) and ghosted prims and attachements still happen.  _____________________

Logging in is getting SUPER fast. are you sure that's not cause the preview is like 3 sims? _____________________

Of course I spent weeks building a fully functioning video screen (with sound) only to have 1.6 make all my efforts obsolete! Oh well. =)
True native video streaming is going to be sooo much better anyway. I think my outdoor theater is about to become very popular. |
