Breakfast club

I get up at an insanely early time in the morning to get to a RL job that starts at an ungodly hour in the morning. For the longest time, that meant I ate breakfast alone since no one else at home was up at that time. To make a long story short, I started talking to people online who were also getting ready for work, and had an informal "breakfast club" where we could chat while getting ready for work and eating breakfast. We usually didn't stay online long and the chat was somewhat limited as we got RL stuff done, but it made the morning more enjoyable.

Now to my point. Due to a variety of reasons, the people I talked to are no longer are able to participate in the breakfast club. Is anyone interested in having a breakfast club here? Chatting in the welcome area or going to events just doesn't work the same. I don't think we would need to schedule it as an event; just show up. When we did this on another world, most the time the location was not always prearranged. We just sent the equivalent of IMs and picked a spot. However I'm open to meeting in a prearranged location. People generally came and went according to their RL schedule.

If anyone is interested, IM me when I'm on in the morning. I'm usually on weekdays between 3:15 AM and 3:45 AM game time. The time may vary slightly. Some days I'm on earlier, sometimes I leave earlier. Some days I'm not able to make it at all. If we get enough people it shouldn't matter if not everyone can make it on any given day.

Nice idea. I envy you people who have the discipline to wake up early enough to have a real breakfast sitting down at home. I tend to squash a cereal bar in my mouth on my way to work while driving. It sucks.

That sounds like a good idea. There would be several details to work out, such as who's land it would be on, do we want a club for it, etc. But these can be worked out. I'm at work now, and don't have much time to further develop this idea right now. If you are inworld when I get on later today after work I'll look you up and maybe we can discuss how best to do this.

I just got a 50's diner that needs a purpose that i'd donate for the cause. Will be broadcasting NPR when I get my jukebox (How's it looking, Weedy?)

You can drink coffee and smoke cigarettes slouched in the corner booth under an autographed picture of Tom Waits and sing "Eggs & Sausage" from his Nighthawks at the Diner album.

all of the above was true, the diner however, seemed to have a mind of it's own...kept disappearing.

Welcome to SL and good morning!

Time for sleep!

I used to work in a newsagents, getting up for the arrival of today's news at 4:15am (of course I needed 30 mins to get ready too)

SL used to help a LOT back then, I would log on for 15 mins or so before work, and talk to all the american's at the prime time for them gaming ;)

A breakfast club is a very good idea and will really help those mornings feel less lonely!

There was a Breakfast Club forum post in There that was started in 2003 & continues to this day. Each day is a different person would start the post and the rest of the crew would jump in. Created for the working stiffs that couldn't make it in world in the mornings it started the day off with some fun. People would list jokes, songs, cool links. It was both amusing, enjoyable and occasionally a bit naughty. For a while I thought of starting one here but ... I just couldn't do it.

Be it forum post or in world club, I think it a swell idea.
