Use the following link to express your support (or disdain) for the journalists who confronted Dr. Dobson over the SpongeBob affair: Jan. 26, 2005 Focus on the Family ========================= EDITOR'S NOTE: Help Correct the Media's Twisting of the SpongeBob Controversy Hundreds of media outlets in recent days have vastly distorted comments made by Dr. James Dobson designed to warn parents of efforts to promote homosexuality to their children through the schools. You can help hold some of those reporters and editors accountable: Send an e-mail to five journalists whose misrepresentations and attacks were among the most egregious. You can do that by clicking on the link below. http://capwiz.com/fof/issues/alert/?alertid=6852451&type=CU

Ask not what Spongebob can do for you, ask what you can do for Spongebob?

Yes, he was upset that Spongebob was singing the disco hit "We are Family" while holding hands with his friends.
He was upset that Spongebob was promoting diversity and unity. Considering this song was originally sung by African-Americans it is clear that James Dobson was accusing Spongebob of being an African-American sponge and promoting racial diversity and unity.
I agree we should set the record straight. (so to speak)
James Dobson is threatened by tolerance.

I dont even know what Spongebob is. But promoting homosexuality to kids is a great idea. Squirt some tolerance into their bloodstream from the cradle. When I was a kid I had a gay couple living right next to me. They were famous artists, one was an actor and another one was a tap dancer. They were really cool. I even got to work with them on a couple of episodes for a children's TV show once, it was called Icarus They gave my mom a persian cat. It was so cute. Heck, right now my best friend at college is a gay guy.

Hopefully these journalists will print up some of the more zany emails from Dobson supporters. Hate mail is always a howl. From the webpage: From: someone Dr. Dobson has been mocked for saying that a group calling itself the We Are Family Foundation is using a video on "tolerance" -- one which features popular cartoon characters like SpongeBob SquarePants -- to potentially teach children that homosexuality is the moral and biological equivalent to heterosexuality. Instead of reporting those concerns accurately, though, reporters have twisted the story to say Dr. Dobson has suggested SpongeBob is gay. They're shooting themselves in the foot here. They seem to be saying: "While Spongebob and his cartoon minions could potentially brainwash your kids to be gay or be nice to gay people, we never said that Spongebob himself is, in fact, gay" Ok, glad we got that cleared up. In other words, "While we're still paranoid loons who see the Big Bad Gay Wolf in evey shadow..."
