I put down a couple of objects on my land that I was experimenting with, and then couldnt delete them! It said they werent in the same Sim as me! When I went back later they were gone, and it kept the money. I'm totally skint now. :(

Sounds like you were at a sim border. It's true you must be in the same sim to interact with objects.

As far as them being gone, did you purchase the land underneath them? If you dont own the land, they probably decayed to public. Last I understood that took 3 days. That could also be superceded by someone buying the land underneath and deleting them.

If you did own the land, its possible there was a rollback and you should have been refunded. If you suspect this, file a bug report.

You may be experiencing the post image or after image syndrome. I have been having that problem almost on a daily basis since 1.1. Besides the numerous other bugs, this one is perhaps the most confusing. I will delete something or take it into my inventory and it will still be visible. I can unlink it and move it around but am unable to delete it (at least to my eyes). If I log on/off it will be gone upon my return. I attribute my affliction to too many telehub trips or too much experimentation with the new particle systems.

Objects resting on sim borders sometimes go public even if there is zero public land on both sims. It happened to me once and both blue and grey were at 100% land usage back then.
