I accidentally clicked 'Female' on character select screen :(

Is there any way for me to delete and start again?

Also, can you run two instances of this on the same computer?

Thanks :)

Right click on your avatar. On the pie menu, select "Appearance".
The character (avatar) design screen will pop up, and you can have your gender reassigmnet surgery right there on the "shape" tab.

You can run two instances on the same computer (one has to be an "alt", one login per avatar) BUT, SL is *so hardware intensive* that unless you have a very, very impressive peice of machinery on your desk, it's just not worth the slide-show frame rate.

Hey Steve, you sure can. Make multiple shortcuts of SL, and in the Target line when you check the Properties, it should say something like:

"C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" -multiple

Then try booting up twice. It should do the trick. Keep in mind it can be PAINFULLY slow unless you minimize one copy at a time. Cheerio! :)

Hey, yeah! This ability to look like anything you want is one of the best things on the game! I've got folders in my inventory and all I have to do is drag them on myself and I turn into a dinosaur or a ghost or a little m&m costume kid or all kinds of things (all of these I got free for the taking at various places), then to get back to myself I just drag the folder of myself back on!

I know that sounds complex, and it took me a while to grasp it - I've been here two months - but it is real easy once you got it; meanwhile you can change yourself at any time the way the guys above me suggest.

I have seen people who have turned themselves not just into men from women, but into all kinds of crazy things! I adored the Matchstick Man I ran into, and LOVED LOVED LOVED this giant bowl of fruit that I thought was a decoration till it started moving and talking!

And the bowl of fruit can go back to being a man OR a woman as the case or desire may be, whenever he/she wants to!

Obviously none of you have experience in taking the female template avatars and trying to turn them into males.

Sure, you can click on appearance and do that. You can dress them up and flesh them out differently. But that underlying template stays the same, and it IS different and it has funny things that start to happen with the hips and chest and require constant toggling and attention. It's not like the templates switch. It is merely that the looks on top of the templates switch.

My advice would be to start over with a new account. Let that one expire. Or keep two, they're fun, you can switch back and forth, there are a lot of advantages to that.

Just go into your library there are male shapes in there, then you can mod them to suit your taste

I seem to recall there being a couple of radio buttons in there someplace. "Male" and "Female." Give that a try.

I agree... just put on one of the library male shapes, then edit it in Appearance mode to what you want. When you are satisfied, use the "Save As" button to make it into a new outfit with the skin, hair, eyes, and shape you have modified.

There's no need to make a new account and go through all that again if you don't want to.

Thought you could change from female to male at any point.

I honestly have never posted on the forums, but I am a newbie myself, and most likely wrong. But I thought you could change your av from male to female in the apperance area of the game. At least mine allows me to do so. But again only a month and a half in game I could be wrong.

The forums are a dangerous place full of misinformation, badly presented good information and sometimes the lucky gem of well presented good information...

Ignore everything in this thread except the first and third replies. Those are the only ones with clear and concise answers to this person's question. Do not start a new account because you selected the wrong gender the first time around. It is not permenant.

Just to say it again so everything is clear, the gender of your avatar is not permanent.

I just did the same mistake.
I did what you said and changed my body to male but...
what about everything else? It only gives me female options for hair, face, and clothing. I look like a cross dresser :(

Go into your inventory and click Library at the top, then click the Clothing folder, you should see several different folders like "Male Shape & Outfit" etc. You can drag and drop one of those folders onto your avatar and it'll turn you male.

Once you find a appearence you like as a "base" you can start editing it, then click Save and it should make a new folder with that appearence Saved in My Inventory - Clothing (I think).

I started out as a female by accident as well and looked like a horrible adult Chucky.
