Today a large Linux project was due. The past few classes, none of the other folk in my group showed. Same with today. Therefore, even though I did the entire project myself, I fail as part of the group. Is it okay to kill these folk now?

Leg breaking will help them to remember to show up the next time.

Have you explained the situation to your instructor?

Akuma-- Prof asks for assignments to be handed in. I explain that my group has been MIA and ask what to do. His reply? "Then your whole group fails." Period. I love that geeky man, but he is tough as nails when he lays down a project.

Luckily I'm in the high 90's grade-wise, so I'll survive it. But still, somebody has to pay!

Sounds like he's on a power trip. If you did the project yourself then you should get some credit. Take it up with a dean or someone if you can't negotiate. That's unreasonable.

If you'd gone to him immediately the first time the other group members failed to deliver on a commitment, could you have gotten some relief?

No one is ever gonna take you seriously nor will you ever prove yourself as hardcore if you don't go through with it, so why not?

Bring this to your dean of Undergraduate Studies (or graduate studies, if applicable). Although it is expected that you will lose some credit because as a group, you guys didn't work, you still did the work as an individual and deserve some credit. If you had no choice as to your group members and no ability to rectify the situation when it came up, it can't be held against you.

I'd bring it to first the department head, then the dean of the individual school, then the dean of undergrad studies, then at last, try to get a meeting with your chancelor or university president. Someone will fix the situation. 'specially if you raise enough hell.

Being saddled with team members that you feel don't do the equivalent of work of you or better is a horrible thing. I've been in a few situations like this before, and it really wears my nails down, so to speak. @_@ Hope this doesn't plunk down your grade to Lowville, Postmark, you really don't deserve it. *sigh*

Instead of murder, perhaps you could speak to the department chair? That helped me.

With a complete absense of malice, I would've been surprised had you meant "kill them" :)

BTW: Next time we meet in the water, I *will* ram your boat!

Linux?? Well I can see why they didn't care. (Hay people like to poke at MS so some one has to poke at Linux)

I say brake there leg. When they are all better brake the other one. When they are all bette move to there arms. When they are all better with that I think they would have felt the pain they should have!
