I was chatting with cartcart yesterday night and he told me a very interesting piece of news that he thinks that sometimes when placed a japanese and a dark haired european, one cannot tell them apart.

I found this interesting and asked him, if he tell apart a korean, a japanese and a chinese person. He said no and asked if I could. And I said, there are a few features that each of these nationalities have that are different that makes it easier to tell them apart.

I'm not going to tell them to you yet though, give this test a try :)

can you tell the difference?

Thats true enough Aaron :) See the people instead - however, sometimes admittedly I'm sure one finds it difficult to tell a face apart ... Okay I'd have to confess that I used to never be able to tell Gweneth paltrow and Lisa Kudrow apart ... I cant tell Britney and Jessica apart lately either ...

I have that problem with Micheal Jackson and Diana Ross sometimes.

I also have it with Wayne Newton and a condom stretched over a coffee mug.

Siggy.

Its a good thing I dont know who Wayne Newton is :p Does he really look like a person who's gotten one too many face lifts? Just as long as that person doesnt go to extreme lenghts and finally look like Jocelyne Wildenstein ... or Micheal Jackson for that matter ...

It's interesting... they didn't ask which race they are... they asked you to choose which *country* they are from. They could be of Korean heritage, yet living in Japan.

Hmmmm.... it's a trick question!

Now that you mentioned it, it DOES sound like a trick question ... *laughs* But I think its assumed that the country that they come from is their heritage. :) Anyways, you've got a point there. I could be Indonesian, living in Australia, studying in United Kingdom with parents in the states ...

That'll make me pretty mixed up :p

Aww .. Unfortunately, I'm not an Indonesian, who is living in Australia who is studying in United Kingdom, with parents from the states :p There is a quotation I saw, which was very apt, it says that travelling is like a living book where you travel from pages to pages.

Way to go Trin! How *did* you do it :) *applauds*

People don't all look the same. Having grown up in a "Navy town" I've been friends with many people all over the world. I have a step dad that is Japanese/American, I've known Chinese, Vietnamese, Phillipinos, Koreans. They all have their own distinct features. We're the emalgamated ones. :)

Precisely, it takes a trained eye to see the difference :) Overall, the Japanese have a delicate feature to them, the koreans are slightly more built and slightly larger facial features. While the chinese are somewhere in the middle. However with a melting pot of races with others, its pretty hard to tell nowadays.

Now I've got to try to tell BS and JS apart ... I wonder if there is a "Tell the difference between europeans apart" quiz. I definitely will have trouble differentiating an Irish, Dutch, Finnish person ...

I used to be very good at telling the difference when I lived in Thailand. When I was in Germany I could tell you if someone was American, German, or British most of the time too just by the way they looked.

Dev, I'm curious to know how one can tell the difference between an american, a german and a brit. Is there a difference in facial features?
