I've installed a jabber-based intranet IM system for the PCs at work, and it's almost set for rollout, except for one problem.

a "nice" (I think she's rather twatty) csr agent we have, who's about 85, is using a legacy computer from before we switched to PCs, an iMac running OS 9.0...."Can I put her on a PC so that we don't have any macs?" "No, that would make her uncomfortable", I'm told. "Can I upgrade her to osX so I can find a jabber client for her?" "She doesn't want her system to change at all, and doesn't want to learn a new OS" "Can she just retire? All she does is order sandwiches for the boss, and she screws that up" "No, but I wish she would".

So while jumping through hoops to help a csr who's main job seems to be being bitchy and confused, I'm having a hard time. I need to find a jabber enabled client that runs on OS9....I've found 2 so far, TVJab and Jabbernaut. TVJab is no longer downloadable, but I got a copy via an internet archive...While it works, it us so limited as to be useless...i.e. it can't let a user be in multiple groups, which we need, etc.

Jabbernaut looked a lot better....it also is no long being updated, but .5b3 at least looked clean. The problem there is that the developer hardcoded the agents into it, so when I launch it, it says 'transferring agents' for about 45 minutes each time....obviously that won't work either.

Do any of you mac strokes know of any other jabber client that will work under OS9....OR do any of you happen to have a copy of Jabbernaut released prior to .5b3, so that the agents aren't looked up?

Admins: These are OpenGPL freeware programs, I'm not trying to pirate this stuff.

Thanks for any help, you Mac 'tards!

LMAO You really know how to get yourself right to the top of Tech Support's priority list, don't you? :D

I've emailed my workplace's Sovereign Mac 'Tard with a description of your problem. I think he's bailed for the day, but maybe he can come up with a suggestion or two tomorrow.
