Refer a Friend

Sorry to ask a question that's probably findable somewhere on the site...but I could not find it. When do you get that bonus for referring a friend? It has been several weeks since my friend signed up.

You should have received it shortly after the end of your friend's 7-day trial and following their credit card being charged upon becoming a full Basic or Premium member. Check your Account History transaction info to see if you can find that.

No I don't think so cause I had a friend sign up(way after October) and I rec'd Linden for them after 7-day trial was over. Of course they stayed! Who wouldn't? SL is AWESOME!

Shouldn't they appear on your buddy list when they first log in, however?

you should get it after they pass the 7 day trial, and move on to an account, It does NOT work, and I dunno why... glad you brought it up!

Regarding L$ rewards:

If you refer a friend who joins at the Basic Level, you'll receive L$1000. If they join at the Premium Level, you'll receive L$2000. Generally, there's a lag between someone referred taking the trial and actually joining SL. If, however, you don't think you've received proper credit for referrals, please email [email]vive@secondlife.com[/email] and we'll look into it.

I think it might be a little malfunctioning. It turns out yesterday I did get a $1000 bonus for a friend who signed up and went to premium. But my friend who joined a month ago and went trial-to-basic, nothing ever showed up for her. Although I did get a message and an automatic calling card when she first logged in.

I'm still waiting on about two or three of them myself...but they are only about 2 and three weeks old...so I'll give it a little longer.

Question: I entered my friend's name into the signup form when I signed up -- will he get his game L$? I messed up and didn't use the complicated link he sent me -- did I deprive him of his Lindens? If so -- is there a way to fix this?

I found the answer to my own question, so I'll post it here in case anyone else ever wonders -- maybe they'll find it by searching.

In short: I didn't have to go through the complicated URL -- specifying his name on the sign-up form was enough. My friend got his L$2000 referral bonus when I 'finalized' my account and converted from 'free' to 'paid premium' status, and I'm a happy camper.
