Interesting Study on Religion/Christianity

Nothing particularly polarizing, although I imagine both sides will find something. But this seems to be a good study with some interesting findings.

For instance I didn't realize that:

"Most Americans – nearly two-thirds of them – continue to give significant amounts of money to churches and houses of worship. Not only did the dollar amount of donations rise, but about three out of every four dollars contributed to a non-profit entity was given to a church last year."

75% is a lot more than I would have thought.

There are lots more. Good read if you are Christian or not.

LOL - You think that's bad??? Try getting SL'ers to donate to tsunami relief!

Thanks for posting, Neehai. Great summary. Many of these same statistics were quoted when I attended a Christian Univ. back in the late 80's. So, as they say, the more things change, the more they stay the same...

Yes, I believe before spawning the cult of $cientology, and he was just a lowly crappy sci-fi writer, he was quoted as saying, "If I wanted to make money, I'd start my own religion."

edit: p.s. For those who haven't yet read the inspiration for Second Life, the main villian in the book Snow Crash is "L. Bob Rife", who starts a cult of mindless followers.
