Skyler Jensen Memorial

Something happened at a memorial that a few friends and I recently held for one of our best friends Skyler Jensen. The last six months or so, seven of us have spent nearly every single day, in group voice, while playing SL. We worked togethor, played togethor, did everything that a close group does togethor. Skyler had been absent for about four days, when a call was received RL from his family, saying that they were sorry to tell us, that Skyler had passed by ending his own life. They wanted us to know, how much the "group" had ment to him, and that he loved us all. To say the least, we have been devastated by this tragedy. After being in denial a few days, and attempting to verify all that we could, we decided to help our circle of friends, to get some closure, hold a memorial for him. We held an event this past sunday, to memorialize him. The memorial was so wonderful, such an impact he had on so many lives in SL, it was very moving. Towards the end of the memorial, one of the organizers IMed me saying, she had attempted to give a yellow ribbon to guest that had just shown up, and that this person declined and responded in IM by saying, i want no part of Your stupid hoax. I was shocked, and in my mourning right away, wished to contact this person, maybe she knew something I did not. So i ask her name ,and messege her asking if there was a problem. Her name was Angel Leviathan. She did not respond, and from IM's i was receiving from other guest, was busy trying to messege guest to say that this was all a hoax. Jeff Linden had been present at the memorial, so I messeged him asking that he please ask her to stop IMing people while they were trying to hear and mourn. Angel messeged me back saying, this is a hoax you and your friends are doing, and I am going to expose it. I asked her if she knew what she was talking about, she said, I can smell a hoax a mile away, you all are disgusting and Im reporting you. I said please do, and promptly banned her from the property. She flew back over and neg rated all of us. Along with making other comments, sad ignorant comments about Skyler and all of us in IM. She also said, you are probably Skyler yourself, and made all this up. Now I have never met Angel before, nor had any of the others in our circle, and I dont know if Skyler had. I was thinking it was possible that like alot of us, she was sad, and in denial, and angry at Skyler and this was her way of working through it, but she said she did not know any of us, she just knows bull shit when she see's it. I can not tell you, how the loss of Skyler has affected me, I feel like I cant breathe still, and I cant imagine how we will recover. I will be going to his home town within a week, to visit his mother and pay my respects. Why does Angel feel the need to do this to us, in this horrible time in our SL and RL. How could someone be so insensitive to another that he/she does not even know. What have we done to deserve such treatment.

Some people are very jaded and cynical. It cant really be helped, just try to ignore this persons anger and dont let it affect you, because they are sick in the head.

Because this person is very bitter and unhappy in life and likes to drag others down with her. Do yourself a favor, put her on ignore in SL and on the forums or she will likely just cause you more heartache.

*hugs you tight* I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I can imagine how difficult this is on you & your group. Keep supporting & being there for one another through this difficult time & don't let ANYONE interfere with that.

as to the attendee you have mentioned in your thread ...look at her profile 400+ negative ratings given. I have had a run in with this person myself, as have many others that I know. She's known for this sort of thing. It's not you or your event personally. Just something she does & so far seems to get away with *sigh*

Wow, this news makes me extremely sad. I met Skyler when he was originally under another account, and he had such a genuine excitement for SL and was a very warm and open person. Although I never talked to him outside of SL, and it had been awhile since I talked to him regularly, the thought that anyone would feel such a sense of hopelessness that they would take their own life is incredibly heartbreaking. Angelica, I am sorry for your loss, and that your mourning was made even worse by the thoughtlessness and cynicism of someone else. Skyler made an impact on me, and I am thankful I got to know him even for a little while.

Wow..so sorry to hear this. It's a shock to me. I knew Skyler briefly, in that he used to stop by Perilous Pleasures off and on when we were first putting it together and we would chat a bit. I hadn't seen him in quite sometime and had no idea that this was the reason

As to Angel's behavior..if those are the facts, then I would think she would be suspended, if not banned, for griefing an event. It seems like she is almost invincible in SL for some reason...

My thoughts exactly, whats up with this? Any Lindens want to comment on this? Its a very valid question that I have asked myself and others about (And have seen others ask as well).

Angelica, I am so very sorry for your loss. I had met Skyler in passing a few times in the world, and he was always a great person to be around. I will keep his family and friends in my thoughts!

As to Angel, I do hope she gets some severe action taken against her for this. It is griefing in the most simple definition. Angel is a horrible person, and one of the few in RL or SL that I will openly admit my distaste for. Angel thrives on the misery of others, and you must not let his words get to you.

As for Angel Leviathan... she should have been banned months ago, this is just icing on the cake. She is callous, rude, inflammatory, and downright evil.

It's akin to barging into a funeral and opening up the casket, trying to find out if it's a "hoax" or not... absolutely astounding and deplorable.

Just a brief note to say how sorry I am to hear about your loss. Losing somebody is the worst thing that can happen and it is a wound from which we never completely heal.

Best wishes to you, and I hope that your feelings of loss will diminish with time, and that you will regain some of the pleasure you have experienced in the past from sl. I didn't know Skyler, but that is surely what he would have wanted.

I am very sorry to hear about Skyler. I don't think I ever met him, but I know first had what kind of grief this can cause, having tried to end my own life several times.

As far as Angel is concerned I truly believe that alot of her actions and behaviors are a result of a serious mental illness. It is rather obvious when she is taking her medication, and when she is not. So try to bear her with a grain of salt. (Whatever THAT means).

In response to an IM I received today (from the person who gave the negative ratings) I am posting this...

I posted that she had given 400+ negative ratings I looked to fast at her profile that day & posted the wrong information. She has Actually given 162 negative ratings with this account.

Although I made an error on the posting of how many negatives she's given with this account I stand by the rest of my original post.

I am so sorry to hear about Skyler, he was a really super person. He flew around with us on our airship a couple of times and used to visit me when I was in Apokahai.

Skylar is gone and so close to Christmas how very sad, very sad. My deepest sympathy to you and his close circle of friends. What a sad loss for all of SL. I'm so sorry for your loss, and even more sorry to the RL family for theirs. I just last week lost an old friend of mine the same way. So sad and wasteful, poor person. As for the crasher, let Angel rot in her own pointless, friendless misery...her actions just displays the lameness of her whole existence.

I attended the memorial..it was very sad even though I didn't know him..my heart went out to Angelica and her loss.
