Havent seen the grudge, not sure if I would be seeing it either. Sometimes watching remakes can be disconcerting for me.
I've watched both the japanese version of the ring as well as the remade one. Personally, I thought that the japanese one, though simplistic, was scarier for me to the extent of not sleeping for a couple of days and avoiding tv. I didnt find the remake the least bit scary.
Similarly I've seen the original version of the grudge - the japanese horror movie was called 'Ju-on' and I quite enjoyed that movie too especially the bitter sweet ending of the daughter and her detective father.
So, I'm not so sure about paying 8 bucks to watch something that I might not enjoy ... *shrugs*
