Was something changed in this version with lighting and alpha textures? At night now, a lot of things look very different than they did in the previous version - things are much darker, and there is weirdness with the alpha textures. And yes, I have local lighting turned on. In fact, I switched laptops today as I finally got mine back from HP, and it looks the same on either one.

After posting, I realized when it is occuring - textures that have any alpha, or objects with transparency turned on at all are not being lit. As someone who uses alphas a lot to cut down on prim usage, things suddenly look much darker.

I can verify this. Light objects with an alpha texture will create "local lighting" but will themselves appear dark.

Particle Glow looks pretty much gone now Hope thats a bug and not a "fix" because it doesn't look as good now.

It's probably related to the avatar attachment lighting fix. Instead of being too bright, av attachments are now unlit. It seems to have filtered over into anything with an alpha channel as well.
I went to Yuki's shop last night to check out the new clothes, and had to force daylight to be able to see anything. Let's hope Linden fixes this up really quick. The overlit attachments went on too long, but was bearable. Unlit alpha/attachments make some segments of the game unusable.

I reported it as a bug and got back a response from Dan Linden that the bug had been entered, so hopefully it will be resolved soon. It definitely makes things a lot less attractive.

The optimal fix for this would be a checkbox on the object properties for "Lit", so that the object is lit without being a light source.
That might fix this bug AND resolve a popular feature request.

There's also a problem where certain prims are being lit incorrectly. I have one case where an object has a bright white tinge, even though the texture is flat black without reflectivity or bump mapping.
