...how our forums are kind of like the land issue in SL????
A person will come here and try to post a meaningful message - and suddenly the thread is filled with ugly, off-topic, ridiculous, terse, pedantic, hateful, overly helpful, hedonistic and/or just plain not right responses????? I am tired of trying to post and never getting the response that I want... I am giving up on posting this very second... I am gonna just let my membership expire and watch you all try to express yourselves in your predictable styles!!!  _____________________

yes i have noticed this. most of what we post here is useless drivel that rolls down the drain never to be referenced again. but once in a while, we manage to accumulate a couple of pages of meaningful dialogue with the each other. occassionally we even manage to interact well with the lindens. those times make all the dead space in between seem worth the effort.
i do my best to encourage newbies the same way. one day they will find land in a sim wholly owned by people that understand electronic computing limitations and know how to share. it may take months or years, but it's out there. just keep searching. _____________________

But Ursa, we can't let them win. I have tried to develop a filter and just ignore a lot of the drivel. Like Khamon said, sometimes, every once in a while like those typing monkees, something good comes out. Ooh what if there was a post limit. Maybe by charactar or by time. Then people would try to make their words count. Of course there would be alts submissions, but even then it would keep down some of the trolls. Not suggesting it, just dreaming, so don't flame me. LOL. (Umm does saying "don't flame me" every stop anyone from being flamed? |
