Today, the new Airbus A380 was unveiled to the public. This thing is a beast! It is approx. 33% larger than a 747, will fly farther, and use less fuel. It will carry 555-656 passengers depending on the configuration. Virgin Atlantic has ordered six of these planes and rumors have it they will install a full lounge/bar on the lower level (the plane can be configured to have a total of 3 floors).   |

Not so fast kids. Its gonna take a few years for your local international airports to modify their boarding facilities to handle this monster. For now, expect to wait a LONNNNNNG time to board one (unless you are in first class).

Was it Boeing (does anyone else find that a discouraging name for an aircraft manufacturer? Boing?) who had a drawing-board design for a flying-wing competitor to this monster? I would've loved to see that go into production.
