Boon for Mall Owners in New Patch

It looks like the new patch enables you to list all the names of all the owners of objects on your lot with the number of prims counted next to them.

Even if they are all set in the same group, I think it means that now you will be able to count each and every separate owner, so that in a mall or residential rental, you will be able to tell much faster whether someone is over their prim limit.

This seems like a great boon as I can read it now, have to play with it some more.

Thanks, LL, for thinking of mall owners...even if by accident LOL.

Can items be removed by owner name or key via LSL?

You go into About Land, Objects Tab, click the Refresh List button, it then shows a list of people and their object totals, highlight a name, click Return Objects, its prompts you "Do you wish to return objects owned by Blah Blah?" So yes, you can return objects by a single players name thru the GUI. Simple and no script needed.

I don't know if that was its intention, but it works.

The one problem I still see is that if an object is deeded to a group, it puts its name as that group.

And when you deed an object to the group that the land is set to (it could be group-owned or individual-owned land), and then return that prim, it *disappears*.

This is really annoying for when you set those radios to share with group and deed with group, but then if you have to return a tenant's objects, the radio disappears completely. Deeded objects removed from a lot that way through autoreturn pressing are deleted completely.

This is nuts, especially if we are to have buildings welded on to land now, and group object buildings at that.

The deeded object set to group should return to the group's founder, or the object's previous owner, or the creator? I just don't know. Nor does the game, and that's why it opts to just delete it.

Sounds like a perfect test repro case for a /bug report.

This is great.. sometimes people leave "gifts" at my place that i don't want to be returned. Now I can keep 'em. And yeah.. for mall owners and anyone who rents land.

One limitation:

The list seems to make no distinction between normal prims and temp on rez prims, which means that where many vendors are concerned, the list output is useless.

temp on rez prims

I know who my paying tenants are, and I know now who are some loafers who are setting their prims to my group to build a sky box I can't immediately see, or putting some lame land scanner over my land or some other crap on my land.

It will give me great pleasure now to see on that menu the name of that person, and to blow the prims off my land immediately and add them to the ban list : )

How is it useless? Temp on rez prims are not counted against the prim count on a parcel.

Cristiano, it is quite possible you could not be more wrong about this. And dammit, I am so sick of this certainty that people have about tekki things with jargonistic names like "temp on rez".

This is how it vexes the average person in the game. It temps on rezzes. It ups the prim count on that plot of land *temporarily*. You are standing on a land, you seem to have trouble adding to a build, you look at your prim count, and walla, it suddenly says 390 when you thought it should only be 234. You go, waaah?

Then you try to put out something again. You put it out. So far so good. You try again. Then it whacks you again. Now it says 290 again, though you had just found that it was only 234.

Honestly, I have stood on the road in Maryport and Alston for hours, trying to deal with tenants, and have recorded these prim totals changing every 10-15 minutes. I swear to God. It is not stupidity. It really happens. I tried to get the Lindens to look at it.

The prims appear to be temporarily there from somewhere, and I have to hypothesize that if this isn't just some specific server glitch out there, that it is caused by these temp-on-rez land scanners. Or some other griefing device.

Actually, Cris is right about this. We've tested this extensively as we recently switched all our holo vendors over from rezzing regular prim displays to rezzing "temp on rez" displays. Prior to the change, our prim count was fluctuating all over the place. After we switched all our vendors' demos to "temp on rez", our prim count remained stable at the number of prims on the land prior to placing the vendor PLUS the number of prims physically on the vendor itself (in this case 5). No matter whether the vendor was "off" and rezzing nothing, or was rezzing a 20+ prim "temp on rez" demo, the prim count remained the same. "Temp on rez" objects, at least when they're being rezzed by a vendor, do not count against the parcel's prim count.

If you see this happening, it's not the result of temp prims. Those absolutely DO NOT show up in the parcels prim count. They will, however, show up in the new list of prims per person/group.

Well it was my hypothesis, because I could not see a single other damn thing that would cause this. And if in fact it does show upnow in the new list of prims per person, then that function was a recordable thing, and it is possible that at some point in the game it would be the case that those temp prims would be showing up every 10 minutes. Is it possible this began happening because they were testing the new continent and this sim where I was, was at the end of the world? I don't know, I just hold out that fact of those temp prims appearing and disappearing.
