Is anyone else without power or home?

We are. About 250,000-300,000 homes around where I live are without power today. For us, it went out about 5 AM EST, about 12 and a half hours ago. Latest estimates for service restoration is tomorrow evening, but probably... Christmas.

God bless the workers who are going to be out getting our power back on Christmas.

The temperature in our home is now at about 20-30 degrees, not warm enough for my two year old daughter so we're at family's now. Which means no Christmas morning in our own home. This was the first year since our daughter's birth that we were going to do "our own thing," and start our own family traditions. But here we are, with relatives -- again. Ho-hum. 'Tis the Season!!

All my daughter's presents are back at the unheated house, freezing, along with my ironically still active, but unable to be used, high-speed Internet connection.

So anyhoo... Merry Christmas / Happy Hannukah / Feliz Navidad / etc / etc / etc...

I was having a few conversations with people this morning when the power went out... sorry if I appeared rude, but now you know why! :p

Very sorry to hear that Aaron! I'm in a similar boat, though not as bad. I was supposed to leave to drive to see my family today, but because of the weather in Ohio, which I have to drive end to end, I won't be going until Sunday or Monday. It would have been nice to spend xmas day with my family since I haven't seen them in two years, but looks like they'll have to do it without me. Oh well :) Better that than stuck in a ditch on the side of the Ohio turnpike. Hope you get your heat back tomorrow!

Man, all those storms barely missed Chicago. Good for us, bad for you. Hope you get power and warmth back soon.

And you are right, those guys that are out there working at all times of day and night, holiday or no holiday, working hard to restore services for our comfort, never get enough credit.

Guys, this bud's for you!

To all of you in dire straights these holidays, you are in my thoughts. I wish that I could have you all at my home (but I live in a bungalo so your comfort level would be in the negative). If I could I would be up there with a hairdryer melting the ice off of your wires. Take care and be safe. Merry Christmahanakwanzaka.

We were forcasted to have an ice storm here in North Alabama. It hit the Northwest corner, but just got cold where I live. I thank the heavens for that.

Ew....sorry to hear that. I heard Ohio got a lot of snow. Weird since it was about 57 degrees here in PA. Maybe we'll get it tomorrow and I won't have to make the dreaded trip to the in-laws. :p

Have fun on your trip, Chip! If you do get snowed in on the Ohio turnpike, at least there is probably a Starbucks within walking distance. :D

Thanks Starley! :) There's a Starbucks at about every other rest area on the turnpike, hehe. I stop at every single one :D

*raises hand* Me! Higbee and I have been without power since about 2am last night when we heard the transformers exploding. We tried to hang tight in our house, but our kitties were getting too cold...thanks to Anaraxis for letting us take over his home! :D

Luckily, my family just got their electricity back, but the power company is saying it will probably be Christmas or later before we get power back. *crosses fingers* I'm still hopeful it will come on tomorrow.

Happy Holidays to everyone from Higbee and myself...just in case we can't get back in SL for a few days *gasps* :p

Stay warm everyone!

Man, I know exactly how you all feel. It's as low as 46 degrees here in Phoenix...brr. I may have to put on a sweater! :D
