Anybody out there have any recommendations on cheerful, fast-paced stuff I could play while I ride my exercise bike? Sitting on my ass doing the same thing for 20 minutes in a row is not my idea of fun...

I exercize to the Iguanas when running and to big band when working with weights. Don't really know why but it works for me.

I hardly ever exercise but the new Gwen Stefani album seems upbeat and cheerful enough. Especially the new song that has the chorus "Look at your WATCH now! You're still a super hot FEmale!"
I always feel like jumping up and down doing Spirit Fingers when I hear that part so beware.

From: Siggy Romulus Yanni!
I am a big fan of Yanni. Some of my favorites of his include the illustrious "Keys to Imagination", with its captivating melody and angular counterpoint, and the Grecian anthem known simply as "Santorini". Especially the Live at the Acropolis version, which I have watched -- and listened to -- many times. Yanni is a true master of the contemporary instrumental artform and it should be stated that I am being serious here. (Yes, I am aware of jokes invoking the Yan-man...) Eggy, what you described sounds like a style of electronic music called "happy hardcore" -- a good example would be many of the Dance Dance Revolution or similar Japanese music game tracks... familiar with any of those? They usually tend to be 130-150 BPM and quite cheerful! There goes rinaz, naming a lot of my faves too!

Yeah, torley, I'm a major fan of Dune! They are one of my favorite bands. I'll see if I can find some DDR tracks online... I wish I could play the real thing though! I've always wanted to try it but I've never seen a DDR machine in the local arcades. Thanks for the help, everyone

From: Eggy Lippmann Sitting on my ass doing the same thing for 20 minutes in a row is not my idea of fun... Bah, only 20 minutes? I use to spend 30 or 40 minutes on my exercise bike... and every 5 minutes i raise the lever to make it tougher to spin, until i reach max, then i do the same backwards... It seems not to work, anyway, i am still a "wide" boy... It might depend on the fact that i use my exercise bike less than 1 time per week... (and sometimes i don't use it for whole months...) I am not sure you could like the music i use, tho. Mostly Weather Report (Teen Town, live version from 8:30 works well), Steps Ahead (Cajun, Trains, Oops, Beirut, Radio-Active...). Last time (hey! it was more than a week ago! it's time to do it again then... ) i used even Pat Metheny (Secret Story; an album recorded together with London Orchestra), but i know i am weird...

You need to do it every day! Heck, twice a day And when you bump up the difficulty, you need to make sure it STAYS up for the next session. The idea is to progressively develop your body, sort of like an RPG, you achieve a level of experience after a while and then move to harder monsters I lost 60-70 pounds dude. Of course, I also cut down on food and I did more exercise than just the bike. Remember to not eat too much at a time. You should eat a piece of fruit or a yogurt or something every 2 hours, and if you're not hungry enough to stare at the clock, you're overeating. Drink lots of water. Of course the hunger thing is only for the first week or two, then you get used to eating less. I lost 6 pounds on my first week alone

I love you, Eggy. It sure is nice to see you posting. We've missed you while you've been so busy studying and bettering yourself. LOL
Have you thought about books on tape? Sometimes a well-written story can take you away as well as music can. I have some and some interesting other audiobook kind of stuff that's downloadable, or I can send it to you directly if you're interested.

An old friend of mine who listens only to music with no lyrics bought me an album of his in - 1995 I think it was... since then I bought 4 others, and saw the live at the acropolis concert, live, at the acropolis So I kin make as many Yanni jokes as I like Then again - I like music ranging from classical to punk rock and just about everything in between... Siggy.
