I remember long ago, I was into playing a certain 2D MMORPG, exploring dangerous dungeons, defeating hordes of monsters just to gain little experience, and taking a break to chat with other players wasn't so bad either. Before I knew it, I was at a really decent level.
In one of my monster huntings, this other player comes and kills a monster that I was already engaged in combat with. Of course I had to say something, and the player replies back with, "LOLz, sh00t up u dum n00b".
I had to ask the player, "You idiot, do you think that I would be here [high-leveled dungeon]if I was new to this game?"

"HarHar St00pid n00b!" *runs off to kill someone else's monster*

Of course I eventually quit that game and joined other MMORPGs and eventually got tired of that and joined the vast world of Second Life, and let me tell you, it's heaven. Me being a graphic artist, I appreciate everyone's works of art, the subject, style, texturing, everything. I love a place where everyone is as unique as they can be.

I know there is a point somewhere...

Well when I was an actual "Newb" (I still am according to the "chart";), nobody pointed at me, laughed, and called me names. They actually greeted me, helped me, and just took care of me like I was a newborn child. I had my "Newb" moments, but I still felt so welcomed. I just wanted to thank the people who helped me on my pixelated feet and show that being a "Newb" isn't all that bad. (You know who you are.)

I'm expecting replies of "......Who are you?" Haha....

Everyone has to be a newb sometime. It's only those who fail to realise that who become n00bs.

I was trying my best to help someone new to SL the other day, and as I worked with her, she made the comment, "You probably hate it when newbs bother you".

As much as I've poked fun at the "social classes" in SL, I was actually suprised. I quickly let her know that I don't judge anyone by how long they have been using a computer program, but by what kind of person they are. I went further and told her that helping someone new was a real treat for me. Not only does it afford me the chance to meet new people, but it relieves some of the tedium of having been in SL for a long while. I catch kind of a warm and fuzzy buzz from it. It makes me long for the days when everything was so suprising and wonderous and fascinating, a feeling that is much harder for me to come by these days.

I envy those that are just discovering Second Life.

I also find that many newer SL folk are far more adept than I at various tasks.

I rarely get to meet any of the fetid inner core (that I don't already know), because they don't seem to explore as much, but I do get to meet many new folks and have been thankful to do so at least 90% of the time.
