No, regardless to what some may think, it is not Linden Labs Who do you think is the greatest threat to mankind? Here are your lovely choices: Men / Women themselves <- note I am an equal opportunity blamer Murder, Slavery, War, Pollution, Racism, Oppression, Crime, Terrorism, etc. vs. God / Nature Famine, Disease, Earthquakes, Tornados, Hurricanes, Floods, Humans, etc. And even though we will all have to face at least a few of these exciting challenges, I wanna wish you that you don't. Have a peaceful, prosperous, healthy, happy and safe 2005! - T -

Religion kills. I am a spiritual person but have no time for organized religion or the war mongers it breeds.

Some people/avatars claim that mankind's worst enemy is Korg Stygian.
Of course....
They are wrong.

Buddhism, as far as I know, is not political machine like most other big religions. I do not have problems with Buddhism, Shintoism and the like, however, the politically driven religions make my gut twist. They have given us 2000 years plus of strife. I should have been more specific, my apologies.

They are wrong. Ohh how the vainglorious assume much. I would have to agree with the religion vote which would mean mankind as it was and is our creation.

Actually, the biggest threat to mankind are the people posting polls with too many options, and people trying to get meaningful statistics out of them.
Oh, wait. I just remembered that this is exactly what "democracy" means.

Its Man that kills. Religion is just one of the many excuses he uses. Others include war, hate, politics, racism, poverty, greed, lust, fear, pride, revenge, boredom, the list goes on...

From: Devlin Gallant Its Man that kills. Religion is just one of the many excuses he uses. Others include war, hate, politics, racism, poverty, greed, lust, fear, pride, revenge, boredom, the list goes on... Although I agree, I do draw a major distinction between faith and religion. Religion is a code of conduct based on someone's/group's interpretation of a sacred text and/or personal revelation. Intermingled with the core doctrines of religion are a number of sublime cultural biases that use sacred writings as pre-text to sanction certain cultural ideologies. (Example: Osama bin Laden reportedly would like all of humanity to adopt a Bedouin- or agrarian-style of life). Adherence to religious code is the key distinctive, and enforcement can be mild (read: "church discipline" or severe (read: inquisitions). Faith, on the other hand, is the personal acknowledgement, on an inner level, of spiritual truths and/or beings, which evokes varying states of inner peace and strength. Religion is not requisite for one to have and to experience a deep faith. Thank you for attending Paolo's Theology 101 Seminar. You may now return to our regularly scheduled program.
