I've created this thread mostly in response to Torley Torgeson's questions in this post in the event forum...

I wasn't sure where else it should belong so I figured General would do the job.

For any of you that haven't heard of Tringo yet, it's kind of a cross between Tetris and Bingo. I won't try to explain it any more that that, but if you are a Tetris or Bingo fan, I strongly suggest you visit one of the many Tringo events that are going on around the place. Tringo has very quickly become more popular that my wildest expectations, so I have to thank everyone for all the support, and wonderful comments that I've been getting.

So first a little background...
I created Tringo during my Xmas holidays about 3 to 4 weeks ago, and it took me roughly a week and a half to build from scratch. I had noticed how well Bingo was doing and liked the basic structure of the game, in that it was very good for getting people together in events. The Tetris aspect I thought had to be a winner, cause lets face it, how many people haven't played Tetris, plus I liked the idea that it would introduce a skill aspect to the game (as opposed to just luck, although there's plenty of that needed too). I didn't copy the game from anywhere, the idea just came to me late, late, late one night. You see, I have a rather overactive brain, and when I go to bed I find it takes me a couple of hours to actually switch off and go to sleep. During that time while I'm lying in bed is usually when the best ideas come to me, so combine that, and the huge lack of sleep that SL caused during my Xmas break, and Tringo is born :)

Once the game was near completion Omar Drago was nice enough to let me set up the beta version on his land, and got the events underway. (Special thanx go out to Omar and LovesIt for all their help during that time :) ). That beta version was up and running just a few days before Xmas. We ironed out the last few bugs over the next week or so, and the final version was released just a couple of days before New Years. Now Tringo has been on sale for about a week, and there are currently 7 (yes seven!) Tringo sets around in SL.

I already have quite a list of suggestions for future versions of Tringo but unfortunately I'm at work atm so I don't have them handy. I'll try to get back on here tonight and post the list so everyone can see them. Please use this thread to post any other suggestions or comments you may have about the game. I'd love to hear from u. There won't be an update for Tringo for a little while because I'm busy building a house on my new land ;) and I have a bit of RL stuff that I really must get back to, but I promise there will be an update one day.

If anyone wants to purchase a Tringo set of your own there are vendors in Kermitt's Korner (Jarawa) and The Barnyard (Sawrey). I don't have the exact coordinates handy, but feel free to IM me if you have any trouble finding them.

Well that's all for now. I guess I better do some work cause lunchtime finished about half an hour ago. Once again thanx for all the support, and now I'll let you go so u can go and Tringo till the sun comes up :D

Oh Kermitt, I do have a suggestion:

Remember in Tetris, most versions of it anyway, how it would display the "next piece" coming up? That helped to add to the strategy by letting a skillful player plan a bit ahead. Do you think this might be a viable option in Tringo? :)

The next piece is in fact shown on the main shapes board. You can see it there in pink shortly before the piece comes into play. I find it very useful.

I am a complete Tringo addict.

As far as a prototype goes, I can't think of anything that would make it better. Except maybe adding in a 2X2 block as a piece option, but that would ruin the layout of your display board and would probably make it too easy to get 3x3/2x3 block.

That's honestly the only thing I've ever wished for. Besides more time to play your addictive, addictive game.

(I know others like Erd have been brainstorming a way to have multiple Tringo locations set up that communicate with a central server, so numerous locations can play the same round of Tringo at once. While it would be great fun, I think the lag time to get all the information from all the locations would be very prohibitive. Maybe someday...)

Thank you for unleashing this beast into SL ;-)

Thanks Alexa -- I miss the obvious a lot, so know why I didn't see this. ;) I will look for it next time. Thankyou :)

Do not play this game, it is adictive like crack wishes it could be. Sure, its fine at first, fun even. Then the ugly head of addiction raises it's ugly head. Soon you will be wandering from place to place, looking for your next score. Nothing will be important in your life except the playing card in front of you. You will spend all of your time circling around play sites waiting for a host to show up so you can get your next fix.

Seriously, it is a fun game.

GREAT job Kermitt, Sense setting it up we have been running it in Erotica 3 or 4 times a day. The first night we played until 4am, whew. Addicted for sure. Really like the host feature, the fact that the girls can run it whenever they want is a big bonus. Clearly you knew what you are doing as the script is some of the smoothest running I have seen in a complicated scripted feature in SL. Althoug being the "lag freak" that I am the idea of the script sleeping after say 15 min of non use would be a huge plus. shutting the board down saves me about 1k fps in the sim. removing it completly about 1300fps. Now Im sure results may very and fps is not the only measure.

Just a thought. Thanks again.
