Everquest II?

I just got Everquest II and started playing. I used to play the original EQ but quit a while ago. But I just had to check out the all new EQ2.

Well so far so good! It's pretty impressive graphically, they've fixed some interface issues from the first game, quests seem to be all over, and it is pretty fun so far.

I will have to learn to budget my time between EQ2 and SL. I enjoy them both for very different reasons. SL allows me to be creative in an infinite number of ways. And the people here are top notch. EQ2 will let me get my agressions out on some nasty monsters, while getting a nice feeling of accomplishment when I gain experience or boost my stats in any way. Not sure about the people yet since I just started. (The old EQ had a huge mix of nice people, immature idiots, and downright assholes)

Anyway, is anyone else on EQ2? Thoughts on it so far?

I'm in it and I love it. Finally I can combine my love of being a sexy dark elf with my love of being a goody goody paladin! ^_^

Graphics are great, death system isn't awful, quests are fun, groups are great, soloing is possible... it's all good.

Yooooouuuu waaaaant to plaaaay Everquest 2...... yessssss...

Who needs EQ when you have DarkLife! RPG and SL, all in one! And with Osprey's sexy clothes!

Yup I'm playin EQ2. Its a little difficult getting used to after 5+mo of WoW beta for me, but EQ2 is where all my friends from EQ1 are for now so thats where I am for now. I'm adjusting and starting to like it, although zoning is so annoying and seems so unneeded these days.

And we had to do a major upgrade to Alek's computer to get it running good. I do not recommend going with min specs for EQ2 - it just looks gross. :p

I'm Qarma on Befallen if anyone wants to look me up.

Hehe Dark life is cool but I am thinking Sony's resources *might* enable them to produce something a *touch* more upscale ;)

I'll just stick with SL.

I have EQ2, and there are some things I really like about it... The racial visions for example, and the graphics are clearly superb...

But.

They dropped the ball with zoning. In this day Zoning should be almost a thing of the past. Limited zoning is one thing... Like entering a city. But zoning like 8 times within one city? There is no excuse for that.

The voice acting is so patheticly cliche for pretty much all the NPCs I dont know why they bothered. I cant help but thinking they could have spent that time, money, and effort is so many better ways... Like getting rid of zoning.

Also, I think they *lost* a lot of what made EQ2 so popular.

Only two cities, for example. One thing that made EQ popular, as opposed to most other MMORPG, was the vast amount of cities, all vastly different. Now we have two cities, and even with the neighborhoods, its just not the same.

The class distinction. In EQ, every class was *different*. Even at very low levels. Not so much in EQ2. At low levels there is almost no distinction between differing sorts of fighters or mages, and even as you start to get higher in levels between some classes there is little distinction that I have seen.

And that stupid starting island is annoying.

I'm waiting for WoW to open back up. That's where I think I'm gonna be staying.

I came from EQ and a few other MMOs. I love them, I love the concept & the immersion. The problem is the TIME. I barely get 45 whole minutes a day to play games. SL is the best thing for people with limited time. Sure, you can do more than I have in SL if you have more time, but at least I'm not helplessly watching my best friend put 40 levels between us in a matter of weeks because they have the time (and skills!) to do so. Then our relationship just becomes a series of /tells since we can no longer group.

I sweated over whether to buy EQ2 or WoW. I've been waiting years for them. But I think I'll just stay with SL for now. It's made my creative juices flow again. I also think I'd have problems going from a game where I had this much control of how I look, where I live and am able to travel to to what a Sony/Blizzard designer wants. Everyday I'm in SL I am amazed at what we "civilians" can accomplish with the tools SL has given us.

I'm playing both as well. Also trying to figure out how to divide my time. I don't even have enough time for one game! Heh, don't you hate switching back and forth with different interfaces? I am always trying to figure out how to move, lol.

EQ2 is awesome! I was pleasently suprised to see that I can crank most of the settings up and still run very smoothly. The eyecandy is to die for.

The zoning can be a little obnoxious, but I bet that's what is keeping it running so smooth.

Any other roleplayers in SL who are getting EQ2 and who want to join me on the Lucan DLere server?

I am Xuxu (Darkelf Enchantress) and Brook (Wood Elf Priest...Druid-to-be) on that server.

My bestest SL friend and I are doing the RP thing there and I was thinking of starting a roleplayers guild to gather some quality people together. Not sure yet if we will be an evil or good guild. Drop me a /tell if you are interested. :)

Still playing SL too!!

Just like SL? :D

Well, i have a lvl 59 halfling druid on Antonius Bayle, Everquest (i know lvl is low, but i had to stop playing since raids took too much time) and i was looking forward for EQ II. Now i don't know what to do. I don't have time to play both SL and EQ II, and i DEFINITELY don't want to leave SL...

I'm playing both EQ2 and WoW.. sort of.
Haven't been playing either lately since I've been playing Half Life 2. I just finished it and it's just completely awesome.

EQ2 is ok. The graphics are great. I like the voice acting and how the characters animate. It's cool how your character or NPC's look up or down directly at a character's face while talking. I don't like the combat system. It just isn't all that fun for me.

I'll probably end up canceling and play WoW when it comes out. The beta is already really stable and has a lot more polish than EQ2. Althougth technically, the graphics are better in EQ2, I like the art in WoW is a lot better. The characters and the environment blend in well. WoW just feels a lot more immersive than EQ2. EQ2 is also a lot more laggy no matter what settings you go with.

The lack of any kind of PvP in EQ2 is also a huge downer.

Both will do very well though. There's a lot of things to do in both.

Not at all like SL! We have a great abundance of mature, intelligent, friendly people here! Yes, there are griefers and such, but they make a small percentage of our community.

I've had very little trouble with people in SL. :)
