Clothing vendors not using sell contents

It amazes me how many clothing vendors still force their customers to drag items out of a box one by one. There is no excuse for it (vending machines excluded obviously, though just barely - I tend to avoid those anyway). It has gotten to the point where if I find a vendor who does not have their items maked Sell Contents, I will not buy from them, no matter how much I like the item. I'm not talking new players either, there are several long time vendors in SL who just continue to force players to drag items out of a box. This feature finally took buying items in SL out of the dark ages, but it is not useful if people don't actually use it.

Is sell content the neat little one where you have the option to wear now and its in its own folder for quick use later on? I like that one. If sale contents jsut throws it all in my inventory then it would make little difference and I would just pull it out the box.

As a frequent hostess of events using creations of others in game as prizes....

I LIKE being able to buy a boxed item!!

I can then hand it over to the winner unopened, proclaim it as a "creator goes here" creation, and know that when they rez it later they will see the designers name yet again!!

I like the formality of it, and the fact that the box helps me advertise the great desingers/creators we have in game.

I am sorry for the great items you are missing out on due to your new pledge Cris, but I can understand how unloading a box can really cut into your game time.

Just a flip side view.

You *could* always use the script I posted to the library. It simulates the sell-contents option in that it puts the contents of the object in a folder located in the root of the buyer's inventory. It might be the 'interrim' solution for people with vending machines that sell those clothes in a box things.

Updated it to version 2.0 too! :D

Here's a link.

I appreciate the flip side of it, but I will give you an example. I bought a pirate outfit today, against my better judgement since they do not use Sell Contents on any of their items. The outfit in total had I think 14 pieces. Each piece had to be dragged individually, and YES had to be clicked every time because they were no copy no modify. Sorry, it is not about it cutting into my game time, it is just plain annoying and tedious when better alternatives exist.

And since I complained about it, I will also thank those designers who use this feature, most notably the wonderfully prolific Beryl Greenace. I bought four outfits as gifts today for people, and happily gave them the folders filled with their items already ready to wear without an excercise in drag and drop. So there is a flip side of gift giving as well.

Yes, that is nice for those giving gifts, and for those just shopping.

Many SL merchants use that system.
Beryl is one, TEO, Phobos, JungleWear,
Straps, ....etc etc

As a PRIZE giver however...
I always feel its necessary to plug the designer/creator a bit harder when the PRIZE is not in a nice labeled box.

I have seen the boxes complete with complex logos, and I have to say, though they are a SMALL pebble in the advertising a merchant does in SL...
every little bit helps :)

I applaud and appreciate ALL the SL designer/creators, and especially those who sponsor with their wonderful creations.

I would never unbox one of their prizes before handing it over as I wouldn't deprive them of that small extra 'logo recognition'.

Again, its just a preference.

P.S. I'll also throw in that I love going home (to Mimas) after a shopping trip, and littering my floor with all my boxes, and unpacking them one by one ;) Maybe it's a 'females and shopping thing' , but I doubt it ;)

I will say one thing, all the clothes I have gotten like that are sprawled throughout my clothing inventory because I have never had time to sit down and put each outfit into a folder. Not to mention a few people didn't name their clothes. Or maybe just one piece. I have a lot of new socks to work with.
