I moved into Natoma on Halloween. I dont remember what the object count was at the time, because I wasnt really aware of the limits etc. at the time. But a lot of stuff has suddenly sprung up round me in the time I've been there. I have worked day and night on the Observatory and my two storey underground house for 9 days. and today I tried to furnish it.... only to find there is no room for any more objects in Natoma.

I'm gutted. It seems anywhere theres a nice piece of land like mine in Natoma, there's no way you can build there. And anywhere you could build, the land is not available.

It's going to take another week to rebuild what I have now elsewhere, assuming I do find a location.

[throws tantrum!] It's not fair!

(does anyone know anywhere I can move?)

Open the world map and set the background to Land You Can Buy.

(Ignore the huge square in Gray though, unless you have a million L$ to spend buying it.)

What I meant was...

Huns, hun,

what I really meant was - does anyone know a sim that has a decent sized free piece of land and a low object count so that this doesnt all just happen to me over again?

Its gonna be hellish moving this house, and I really dont want to get there and find it all happens again.

I have to say this has really dampened my enthusiasm for SL right now. All the hours I've put into getting my place exactly as I wanted to find that I cant do anything with it really is disappointing.

In my opinion, we either DESPERATELY need more sims online to cope with demand, or there needs to be an overhaul of the way building is doled out; why should I suffer the fate of never being able to build in SL because there are other people hogging all the object quota.... in this case it's probably largely due to the Av Central Store.

It would be far fairer if objects were limited per resident per plot per sim... so I would know exactly what my resources were in advance, and I was getting treated the same as any other resident rather than a second class latecomer.

We also need a way to gauge the object count or 'fullness' of a sim before we settle, because it really is heartbreaking to invest 80 hours in a project to find you cant finish it.

I think I can offer a lot to the SL world, but if I can't build stuff and cant display it in my shop to offer for sale, there isn't much point, and if that's the case, I doubt I'll bother to renew my subscription next month.

Sorry peeps, but thats really the way I feel.

On the mini-map, there are two color bars. If you mouse over them, they will say (for example) "Region Object Usage 44%" and "Region Land Usage 88%".

There have been discussions in the past about how people should be allocated prim usage. Every couple of months for as long as I've been here, like clockwork, someone has come by and complained that they are in a "full" sim and proposes some system to restrict what everyone else does so that they can continue to build right where they are. Really, the solution has always been very simple: move.

I took a look at Rose. The region object usage there is 60%, land usage 78%. That's one out of many sims with open land. You just gotta go looking for it is all.

Before you move your build, link it together into one or a few pieces. That will make things exponentially easier.

Well Blue is pretty empty and there are some nice free plots on the north side.

Moving the home shouldn't be such a hassle...select it all and take to inventory, then rename it to something memorable when in inventory. When you get a new plot, plop it down and tada, insta-house! :)

Mocha, move to Mocha, low prim count and plenty of land..just ignore the big project that is being built there and you will be fine.

I was very surprised to see how fast the limit was reached. Last month it was around 85% or so. Suddenly everyone wanted to open a shop or build something complicated in Natoma, and the object usage is at 100% now. I can't host a photo slide show night because I can't rez the screen.

I'd like to point out to potential shop owners that when you look for a sim to set up shop, make sure the object usage is lower than 90%, or you may have problems very quickly.

I think he means "free" as in "available", not "free" as in "no charge".

Here are some relatively open regions along with the object and land ownership percentages from the weekend:

Minna - 56 - 63
Rose - 60 - 79
Aqua - 74- 60
Aqua is more expensive to buy but the taxes are the same as other regions so if you stay there for more than a few weeks, the cost is not that different.
