Well, I hate posting like this and I almost never have to do this. I usually just end up quiting if this happens but I like Second Life quite a bit so I'm willing to stay (that and I payed). Well, here's the thing. I've been trying to be somewhat social in various gathering places, but to no avail. And, like I said I hate doing this, I'm wondering if anyone would ike to get in touch with me and just hang out. If so, just reply here and I'll try to get on when you are. >_> Got any questions? Shoot ^^

First off, welcome to SL! :)

I'm not a very interisting person, or very roaming, but if you see me around you're more than welcome to hang out. Most of the time however I'm working on something and not very talkative, but occasionaly I'll go out and hang around in the Welcome Area or travel around, so if you see me, say hello!

My hours are pretty sparadic, so I can't give you a deffinit time I'll be on. Most likely its early AM hours 12am-10am or so, or late evening hours (EST time zone here).

The Welcome Area is usualy a good place to hang out and talk with others, gets a good flow of traffic.

(Is usually on...whenever ><;) Yeah, there are less 'elitists' at the Welcome Area. I'll keep an eye out for oyu and thanks for the welcome! I'm still in the 7 day trial period, so I'm still wary, lol ^^

Hey Canofoo, a warm welcome to Second Life! Sometimes, you'll even see Oz and I together at the Welcome Area, talking about... stuff. I'd be more than happy to hang out with ya. I myself am pretty hyperkinetic and crazy, so if that sounds like your bag, personality-wise, feel free to IM me up if I'm not drowning at the bottom of one of the new sims! Tell me more about yourself Canofoo... what are some of your interests? What do you especially like about SL so far?

Take care and hope t'see ya inworld soon! :D

*yeahs for no flames!* Thanks everyone for your words and I will be looking out for all of you ingame. Anyways, to answer a previous question about likes. Well, it may sound very cliche to say this, but I like anime! And my fav type of anime was Gundam (original). Other likes I have are text-rpgs (like forums or AIM stuff). I love games (big der). And, I am currently enrolled in the US Air Force, although I have yet to go through basic training ^^ I took the oath so I can say I'm officialy in it ^^ lol, anyways...umm...hmm...I like creating things, though money limits me so that's why Second Life appealed to me. I hope to make interesting shirts (though Alpha Channels escape me in Photoshop 5) and some interesting objects as well ^^

*edit* I'm on EST, and I'm usually on...well, various times. If you ever wanna just get in contact and say "Get on, NOW!" nblsandrew@hotmail.com Same goes for my MSN

canafoo,
don't be shy to drop in on dots. remember, people are logged into SL during their leisure (most anyway - some are serious content creators for whom sl is a fulltime or parttime job) so people are pretty open to visitors. most people are happy to talk to you about what they are making etc and if people are busy and wish not to be distrubed, they will put up a busy marker on their avatar.

just drop in on people, say hi, and ask what's up, introduce yourself! :)

one word of warning. if people are in places that are very hard to get to like a hidden room with no doors or above the clouds, then that is pretty much the only clear signal of do not disturb short of limiting access to the land.

feel free to drop in on me. but be wary, i have a sarcastic sense of humour.

Hmm, I liked Gundam Wing the best I think of the gundam series I've seen. Theres tons of anime lovers in SL I think, I believe theres a few groups as well. :)

As for the photoshop thing, did a search on the forums, theres alot of posts about alpha textures and photoshop, if you can't find anything of use I'm sure someone in the uh, whatever forum it is, lol, would help:
/invalid_link.html

Also one of the posts lead me to this tutorial on creating an alpha channel, its for photoshop 7 though, so not sure how much help that will be:

Canafoo, I was in the same spot you are in when I first started Second Life.
I thought damn, no one talks and its all so 'clique-y'. LOL gave me a little bit of
a challenge and I see my first impression was wrong. I just continue to enter an
area and say hi everyone. Pretty soon people got to know me.

Try the events that force people to talk as well...like trivia or the classes where people ask questions. You won't find too much chatter at tringo except between rounds.

And yes, feel free to hit me up in game as well. :)

Hi Canofoo!

Welcome to SL! Like everyone else, I'm very happy to meet you, and I hope that one day we can meet in-world.

I can't say that I spend a ton of my time socializing, I'm mostly a washed-up builder, so I spend my time building structures and wishing of the days gone by.

I do however offer one on one building classes to whomever is interested, and I have a couple of rooms in my home for people that want to go beyond the learning and become an apprentice. Of course, if you take on an apprentice role, I promise you will have sen way too much of me and wished you'd never met me :)

SL is all about finding others of shared interest. The first thing I tell new players to the world to do is get out and explore. Look around at what's out there and make friends as you go. You will be surprised by how many people are happy to stop doing whatever they are doing to say HI to someone who's out exploring. So, spread your wings and fly, find out what interests you, and then find someone who can help you get started in whatever skill you've chose to practice, or find a favorite club or two that you enjoy hanging out at.

The real fun in SL is exploring and discovering things you never though possible in a game of this nature!

I do like SL, but one things gonna bring me back and that's peeps. Anywho, for those that are anime likers, I myself am an Otaku nut (if you wanna learn my background with Japanese animation, then drop a line, I love bragging about my 4 years in Japan :P). I was trying going to start up an anime group thingy and even start doing stuff when I get a plot of land (don't see that happening anytime soon, I made a few things, however I have no idea how I'm going to sell them! I know HOW to sell, but I don't know how to get people to buy em!). Anyways, I'm gonna stick to building curiosity pieces in the game as well as simple shirts (I wanna start a line of word shirts! You know, the kind that all the people you don't talk to at school lunch like?). Anywho, I'm about to log in and hang out in the welcome area, ta ta!

Hiyas ^_^

I just started this past Tuesday, and so far I'm loving the game. Definitely don't worry about meeting people. If nothing else, just explore and look at the variety of houses that people have built. I've run into a number of people just exploring and asking people questions. I suppose I may have been lucky though, lol. You're way ahead of me, I haven't figured out that much yet.. Recent been messing with scripts of items I've gotten so far, and I'm hoping to learn how to build things, as well. I'm into a variety of things, but sorry to say that my anime knowledge is limited compared to yours lol. Mostly only seen things my RL buddy has bought ( DBZ, Macross, Guyver -which I think was an anime-, Hack//Sign -my fav, hehe.. downloaded all subtitled episodes-, Shamanic Princess -think I got that right-, the anime with a guy named Might or something like that,.. Lol.. well you get the idea). Anyways, feel free to IM me. Always looking for new friends, and I'm sure I'll probably ask a question or two, now and again lol..

Welcome! ^_^ There's lots of Anime fans here in SL, and the best part is you can Cosplay *way* better than you would in RL! At least I think it is.. ^^;;

You can IM me any time, but you should try the Find button to look for Anime stuff and groups!
