So, I'm sailing my free sailboat around the waterways in the new sims. I notice that I get strange colision effects when I try to cross the cracks in the sims. They're peneratable, but it's still strange. Then I hit a crack at the corner where three sims meet. And Something Happens. Next thing I know, my boat is heading northward. And I'm heading southward on the seafloor. And I can't get out. The game still thinks I'm sailing, my legs are burried in the ground, and I have Fallen through The Crack. Not only am I in limbo, but I found out that I could *gasp* travel outside the edge of the world. So I decided to see how far I could go before crashing my client or something of the sort. (turns out that it didn't crash, but I could only travel so far as the laws of physics still applied somewhat and I kept coliding into things I couldn't always see.) And yes, I got screenshots to proove it. Despite being in limbo, communication was still possible...I managed to manuver myself toward the Hidden Lakes telehub (although it was rather like a ping-pong game with my AV as the ball, as I didn't seem to have much in the line of brakes and my body was still obeying the physics of a sailboat) and communicate to people where I was. I watched the moon change colors as it set, and kept manuvering trying to get a good picture of the sunrise before I got stuck in a hole I couldn't get out of and had to reboot. I have gazed into the Abyss. And it was kinda preaty. And the world is indeed hollow.

We call that 'trying to use a vehicle in Second Life'. Fun, aint it?

lol
Same thing can happen when just flying also.
Tip: when travelling in secondlife, try not to cross over sim corners, you go through sims too fast and you get lost along the way.

This isnt the worst i've seen.... once I teleported to a nonexistant sim, and wound up stuck in nothing(about 8 sim's space away from normal grid for a few hours.
seems like the landmark has disappeared...

So funny...

The entire concept of traveling 'out of world' or falling into the cracks between sims. Vaguely surreal. Kind of like Shell Silverstein's 'Where the Sidewalk Ends...' only darker. -v

And Further?

I'm just wondering if you pushed just a little further to the edge or down that crack, you'd actually punch through a big scrim and find yourself emerging in an office in San Francisco where programming geeks were sitting in their cubicles eating RingDings and drinking Diet Coke while they make more sims LOL.
Did you see any of my prims out there? I live near the edge of the world in Refugio, and I keep getting these messages that my prims have "left the world".
