I'm not sure, and have wondered this myself, but my guess would be:

show-van

Am I right? :D

Oh, just call her C-O!

Now pronounce one of my favorite actresses = Tamzin Outhwaite (Sergeant Jo McDonagh, Red Cap)!

without checking what others have said.. I'll admit how I have always pronounced it to myself. hehe :D

Siobhan = Sigh-O-Ban

I'm sure it is not correct, but wanted to share how I have always heard it in my mind. :p

Yawn, don't ask these things when I'm sleeping.

It's up to you if you pronounce is Sha-bhan, or Shi-Vawn, or Sha-Vagn, or Sha-Von... they're all pretty closs, and when you take regional accents into account, probably sound pretty similar...

It's irish, by the way, look it up on a names website, and it'll probably give you some alt-spellings that you can seal with easier, lol...

and NO... See-Oh-Ban is WRONG WRONG WRONG!

I think Edav's is the closest.

<<I went to school with a girl names Siobhan She prounounces Sha-bahn>>

It's funny how parents give their children exotic names without having the least idea of how they should be pronounced. My favourite is Caitlin, which is pretty much generally pronounced 'Kate-Lin'.

In actual fact it is 'Kat'leen' - the original Irish form of the name Kathleen.

It more or less breaks down as ...

S + vowel = Sh

io = long oh or ah

bh = v (or close to it)

an = an, basically usually long 'ahn'

---

In world, people call me a few things... the most common being Sio, whith though technically wrong, I've got used to now... Some call me 'Shiv', though not so much now, and Jhanniss calls me 'Sha' which is close and kind of cute.

Just thought... it's almost like Shiva with an n at the end.. almost...
